This vase was found in South West Ohio near where Roseville Pottery is/was. There are no markings on the bottom (or anywhere else) that would help in identification. It does remind me of some of the colors used at Roseville but I have not been able to find a match for it. When searching Google, the only appropriately similar vase I could find was a Denby - it was not an exact match but very, very close (the shape was identical). If anyone has any ideas they would be willing to share I would be very grateful!
Thank you!

This is stoneware, not art pottery. Rookwood and Roseville are art pottery. Stoneware was made all over the country during the 1800's, wherever there were clay deposits of high enough quality to fire into pots. Could be anything, made anywhere, by nearly anybody.

I've been trying to upload more photos since I posted this and for some reason I keep getting an error message - I do apologize. As soon as I figure out a way to get more pics uploaded here, I will add them!

Finally got it to work again, yay!

It appears to be a jar missing its lid.
No clue on maker.

I was about to say something similar. Definitely place under Pottery, but note it as whatever type of art it belongs to. Hope that makes sense.
And good luck with the listing.

Thank you all so much! Now that you mention it, it does look as though a lid belongs with it. Unfortunately, I don't have it. Also, where I said "Roseville" I meant Rookwood. While I do realize this is stoneware and not art pottery, it reminds me of some Rookwood I've seen - fireplace tiles maybe. I can't put my finger on it but something Rookwood-ish about it, to me.
