I would call it classical/allegorical rather than romantic. without a makers mark it will be nearly impossible to ID as companies which made the transfers sold them to several companies.

Yes - those platters have the same unusual border. Thank you. Just wish I could see what they sold for : ( In the good ol' days, ebay would keep up the old listings and it was a useful tool.

I would say this was by ridgway only if one found a signed example. very skeptical of that attribution

Agreed -- an etsy reference may not be as reliable as I'd like. Based on that, I found a Staffordshire Transfereware specialist who uses the same attribution for that pattern. I'll look in my Romantic Staffordshire references too but they're currently boxed away in the attic. Thus my question to tyou guys.
