refund

Hello

A friend ordered a product  about 3 weeks ago and paid by credit card. The Seller canceled the order the same day, stating the the product has become  50% more expensive overnight. The Seller promised refund but is coming out with more silly excuses everyday for not refunding. Ebays answer is that the case is closed for them and we should try a credit  card chargeback.

In cases like this should not the Ebay buyer protection  step in as soon as the Seller cancels an order and the money should be resend where it came from by Ebay.  The Seller should have absolutely nothing to do with the case anymore, except that he should be punished for placing a faulty order.

I am buying  on different Platforms for more than 20 years and have seen many scams. How can a Seller get past the Ebay buyer protection that easy. Any answers and ideas are welcome and please correct me when I am wrong about the Ebay buyer protection

Regards

Harald

"The Seller canceled the order the same day, "

If true then the payment should have been returned to payment method. Credit card if such was used.

Can take a few days..

refund

Once a seller cancels the order funds ARE refunded to the buyers source of payment.

Sellers have no way to cancel and not have money refunded.

Your friend needs to look at their order for status.

The only way this makes any sense, ebay not refunding immediately when the seller canceled the order, is if your friend took the purchase off ebay. If that is the case then ebay cannot do anything about it.

If it was purchased on eBay your story does not hold water in my experience as a 20 year veteran buying and selling here.

@endersharald

If the refund is going back to a credit card, it could take a full billing cycle for the refund to show up in the account.

Have a great day.

Hello

Thanks to all for you input to solve this problem, unfortunately Ebay seems not to have followed their own Buyer protection rules. I have some additional info that may be relevant for this case.

Nationality of the Buyer is German, living in Thailand.

Big problem is that the Buyer has late state Parkinson with some serious brain damage what makes communication not any better.

The Seller seems to be French and translates his messages by computer, so I can only guess that the Seller has some problem refunding the money. The 5. April should have been the end of this case, without even involving the Seller. After cancellation by the Seller “Ebays Buyer Protection” should have started and the money returned, it did not.

The product is an e bike (>1000$)

Additionally, after hearing nothing positive neither by the Seller nor Ebay for more than a week, the Buyer went to the Order page and canceled the order again. When I found the second cancellation I asked him why he did cancel an already canceled order, he first denied and than said “I'm an old Ebay customer, they know I did not mean to cancel the order.” I no not know how Ebay could accept a second cancellation, but it happened. The main page of the order is still showing “canceled by Seller”, but it seems Ebay is denying any responsibility for refunding the Buyer. Very good example for Buyer Protection.

I thinks the buyer has already send an Invoice for the outstanding amount to Ebay. In his **bleep**ed mind the next step should be 2 reminders and then a Lawyer to collect the outstanding debt. Let us see how this case develops, with all 3 involved parties not able or willing to solve a simple problem.

Is there any way to contact a more experienced person inside the Ebay customer service by phone or email? This totally **bleep**ed up case could really be settled very easy.

Regards

Harald
