Just got my payouts put on hold. Called eBay but no specific reason was supplied. They just do it periodically - for no specific reason, at least not one they are willing to share! Last night's sales were about $16K. I owe my consignors a bunch of that amount but cannot get at the money until eBay feels like sending it. I have no outstanding problems with buyers.
I have been selling on eBay since it started and never had this happen. I sell physical items and ship everything within 24 hours. My total eBay fees for the last 26 years are well in excess of a quarter million dollars. I am an unhappy customer. If they want to do a review of my account, they should do it without withholding my payout.

Before your recent sales of over a thousand items your feedback shows you hadn't sold anything for 6 months. That would be selling on a dormant account. Because of that you're treated as a new seller subject to 14-30 day payment holds. Hijackers steal dormant accounts to list on so that's another reason you might be looked at.
As for your consignors why would you pay them while there's still a chance a buyer can return an item or file a chargeback?

You must be looking at somebody else. I sell 50-100 items every week for 26 years. NOT dormant.

I would think eBay asked for some type of information and somehow the email got into your junk department emails. I had to send a bank statement email with the heading on it to do instant payouts. Customer service doesn't really have the information to help. I would check past emails and future emails with eBay. And just assuming you don't an account with those banks having a problem in the news...I live in San Francisco.

Was "last nights about $16K sales" out of the "norm" $ wise?
That could cause the "bots" to go into a panic.

Maybe, but I have done about the same for last four weeks. Anf looks like at least another month of the same. I end about 100 auctions every Tuesday. But these have higher dollar value than normal.

I don't know if this applies to you but make sure you do not have a landline listed in your account details.
This just happened to me a week ago. I was asked to update my account which I did several times but I still had the "red Banner" saying payouts would be put on hold by xx date. My land line has been on my account since 2008 ish.
I called into CS and they did not know. I found out by searching on the forums.
Bottom line, if you have a landline listed on your account, remove it and replace with it with your mobile #, you will then be sent a code, enter the code and your all set.
This is just one possibility.
If you already have a mobile # listed in your account....disregard.

I cannot find any such email. I have had no trouble up to now and none of my banking info has changed for years. I just hope it isn't eBay's bank that is in Silicon Valley. Got my tax form from eBay and already filed taxes as well. Nothing has changed except higher sales for all of March. Seems like a lame excuse to cut off my funds.
Did you see the recent report (mike Knowles) about the San Francisco official that said car break ins are just part of life in that city! In other words we ain't going to do anything about it. Arrrgh!

I can only pass on what has happened to me....
Long time seller, not your volume, but consistent. No issues...
I have learned that financial institutions are being pressured to do "annual" reviews of their accounts. (some new 'law' similar to KYC laws)...even if it is just contact and verify
In my case, I got probably the same message, and I sent the material they requested, and the "hold" was off before it even affected any payouts (daily)...
Hope the same for you........
Found this morsel.....
Three components of KYC include the customer identification program (CIP), imposed under the USA Patriot Act in 2001, customer due diligence (CDD), and ongoing monitoring or enhanced due diligence (EDD) of a customer's account once it is established.
