I got a message from eBay saying to update my account details.
"It’s now simpler to get paid on eBay
Getting paid has changed: Fees and expenses will be deducted before you get paid out and the remainder of your earnings will go directly to your bank account, not your PayPal account. Get set up in a few easy steps."
I primarily just tend to leave all the money I receive in my PayPal, so I wanted to ask for clarification: does this mean sellers can no longer use PayPal as a means of payment? We have to store the money in a bank account now?
I also saw something saying eBay raised their fees. Is that also true?
Thanks for clarifying.

All true you now need to give ebay bank and SS# info to sell items. If not they will most likely block you from selling Yes new fees are 12.55% plus they now collect fees from the bank transaction I believe about 3%.
Hows that for ebay helping sellers. Not giving them my info.

I have posted to other posts of yours on different threads or threads. MP is NOT requiring the full SSN any longer. They only require the last four digits of the SSN. See the link below where Ebay confirms this.
You are absolutely INCORRECT about the fees. For a non store owner, in most categories the fee is 12.55%. There is NOT an additional fee for a bank transaction. There is NO SUCH FEE charged to the seller.

Sorry for that but a rep sent me fee list and told me it was about a 1/2% cheaper than paypal and even mentioned a .30 cent savings. Check the thread from your own rep.
I've been with ebay 20 yrs and I am not giving over last 4 of my social or any bank info or birthdate. I am so happy with the way buyers pay me now. Paypal direct. I realize I am a small fry in comparison to ebays big sellers, but that was what ebay was all about. If I am too small they will dump me with millions of other little guys. Nothing I can do about it but I will not concede. My account will most likely be shut down by ebay by the end of May. So very sorry you will dump me and I will start up with other sites.

@max-list wrote:I fully agree. For Ebay to charge a final value fee on the tax is just wrong, it should be illegal. But as others have pointed out here, it must be legal because Ebay has many lawyers that have looked into this already. It's called greed, and the little guy gets screwed.
It's not just Ebay, other sites do it also.

@max-list wrote:Hell ya we wanted to evade! lol It used to be no reporting under $20,000, no tax form as I remember. Now over $600 we'll get a tax form? I'm not sure about this, I'm just askin, maybe you know? Ahh, the good old days are over.....
It doesn't matter if it gets reported or not, you should be claiming your income, even without a 1099.
Yes, starting next year, anything over $600, will be sent a 1099.

@badboy_2004 wrote:Yea, honest handling time should be there. But to be a "top seller" and get a 10% discount on FVF you have to ship within 1 business day of the sale and payment. So if I'm selling high value items, and the payment "bounces" after it has shipped, what happens to the payment? Buyers may not have a backup payment that can be charged.
I've been using Adyen on another site for a few years now and I've never had a payment not go through once they said it was approved.

Thanks, that's what I was asking about if we'll get a 1099 for over $600. Good to know.

mam98031,
I re-read what you said and I was the one that got defensive. I didn't mean to jump down your neck. You're very knowledgeable and have answered many of my questions. I've learned a lot from you and I appreciate your help. I go to a lot of your links and they're great sources of info. To me It's irrelevant if you work for ebay or not. I know that you're trying to help.

WOW, you are a breath of fresh air, takes a big person to say what you just did.
I came to these boards under my selling id (in Australia) a few years ago when all the changes were being announced to us in Oz.
I learned so much from the responders here, I never posted, just read and learned and conquered my fears and issues and because of that I am still selling today and have also been able to give advice here at home to a lot of members who like me, were lost in the beginning.
So a big thanks to all of you who helped without even knowing you helped.

You seem to run with information from people that may or may not be sharing the entire situation or truth of the matter.
Ebay hired Adyen, a Dutch owned company, to be the payment processor for their payment program. Adyen has a proven track record of being a good money processor. It seems you are suggesting that our money leaves the country, which is highly unlikely that would be happening as it would serve no purpose whatsoever.
Because Adyen is a foreign company doesn't mean they don't have to abide by the rules and laws of the US. They most certainly do in order to do business here. And Adyen has offices in the USA as well. Their main office is in San Francisco CA.
As has been explained to you a couple of times at least. It takes 1-2 days for a pending payment to clear. Then it moves to Available for Transfer. That money will then transfer on the next available BUSINESS day if the seller is signed up for Daily deposits. Or the next available Tuesday if they are set up for Weekly transfers.
IDK if your seller friend does daily or weekly transfers, that would be a piece of information you would need as well as when the payment or payments were received. If the payments were received on Thursday, if they took 2 days to clear, that would be today which is Saturday. Tomorrow is Sunday which isn't a business day. So it is likely your friends money will transfer on time Monday or Tuesday depending on what their deposit schedule is.
You have been all over a few threads sharing information that is inaccurate. I have provided you with links, Ebay links to explain this stuff to you, yet you continue.
Bad information does not help anyone and can hurt some if they take what you say and run with it. This is peoples finances you are messing with. It is important that everyone gets the correct information so they can make the best INFORMED decision possible for themselves regarding whether they want to enter MP or not.
If you have questions or concerns fine, no problem we can get you answers. If not me one of the other sellers that are knowledgeable on the program. But it is irresponsible to continue to post bad information that could cause distress, unnecessary stress for some.
Read through these. I know I've provided some of this to you before, but here is more info that I hope you will read and digest.

This was part of the latest Stimulus Package. It is slated to start for 2022, however that date is not yet firm and could change. Just for a little more clarity.

Well thank you. But I'm just a seller like you. Nothing special and certainly not employed by Ebay. Some just like to throw that out there when the don't like what I've said.
Thank you again, glad I could help.

Hello Mam,
I am sorry but you can't see the forest through the trees. You just proved my point by your response. For some reason you cannot see that being helpful and being a cheerleader are two different things. No one is being rude to you, It is not rude to suggest you may work for Ebay or that you are defending this company to excess.
I never said I was against your information, what I found odd is your behavior and responses. You seem more like Help Desk for Ebay than a Seller. As I said, you say you are just a seller and that may be true, but your actions seem to give another impression. Also its naive to think Ebay would not employ people to support them on forums fir PR, after all its a company "policy" and not actual law.
I never said that Ebay was dying now in the sense you took it, but I believe it is dying to what it was for small sellers and what made it great and that in time this action will be their downfall. I may be wrong on this, I do know memberships and new sellers are no gauge to go by as the stockmarket proves everyday. If people quit coming to Ebay because there is nothing their but items you can get on Amazon their will be less revenue.
I still think you somehow work for Ebay, or get some sort of kickback from them, if not then you have some issues you need to resolve as you take all this too personally and have too much free time to post so much on thread like this. I suggest go out and enjoy life and relax! 🙂
You seem to suffer from the same problem you accuse everyone else, of not understanding the others position. You accuse people like me of not understanding your replies. but you fail to see how you look to the casual Ebay seller and buyer. You have two choices, either accept that maybe you appear unbalanced in your defense of Ebay as many keep telling you. Or just continue thinking you are right and everyone is wrong.
Personally I feel you work for Ebay and nothing I could say would stop you from posting what you do with the frequency and tenacious support of Ebay, even when they screw everyone over. Because this is what your suppose to do.
Have a nice day, and I apologize for anything you considered personal offense. 🙂

Please point out specifically what point I gave you are someone else the incorrect information on.
You find me helping other sellers as odd? Why is that? It is what the forums are for. It isn't just for venting and complaining, it is also for getting some help when you might otherwise be having a problem getting it. And somehow those that do come to the threads to lend a helping hand are somehow wrong for doing so? I find that a pretty strange outlook.
How you WISH the program to work is likely not the same has how it actually works. To understand the program and make an informed decision on whether to stay or go, it is in your best interest to understand how the program functions. But fine, have it your way. IDK if you stay or go. I only tried to give you the actual facts of how the program works so you can make an informed decision. I get it, you don't think an informed decision is necessary. Everyone has the right to run with whatever info they want to and base their decision on that. Trying to dismiss the messenger isn't going to be helpful on that quest.
