Did you mean:

eBay not using PayPal anymore?

I got a message from eBay saying to update my account details.

"It’s now simpler to get paid on eBay

Getting paid has changed: Fees and expenses will be deducted before you get paid out and the remainder of your earnings will go directly to your bank account, not your PayPal account. Get set up in a few easy steps."

I primarily just tend to leave all the money I receive in my PayPal, so I wanted to ask for clarification: does this mean sellers can no longer use PayPal as a means of payment? We have to store the money in a bank account now?

I also saw something saying eBay raised their fees. Is that also true?

Thanks for clarifying.

lol this is total **bleep** i am defiantly not shipping until my money is in the bank and who are they kidding they will charge you the papal fees its just ebay will get them now and what about returns will they take that mony out of your bank automatically and overdraft you think i will find other places to sell ebay is getting worse all the time

@skyang-30

Because you don't want to ship until you have your money in your bank does not mean that anything I said was incorrect.  It all still stands.  And as I said, it is a choice for each seller to make for what is best for them.  Ship right away or wait.  Completely up to the seller.  I personally don't think there is a right or wrong answer, sellers just need to do what is best for them.

There are NO PayPal fees once you are in MP because PP is no longer used.  You are correct that the fee will now go to Ebay which I did explain before, sorry you missed it.  But MP is now doing the money processing, so they are getting the money processing fee.

When a claim is filed by a buyer, MP will look to your MP account to cover the money for that return FIRST.

You talk as if sellers don't get notified that they have a claim filed.  Sellers are fully aware or should be when a buyer files a claim as Ebay notifies us.  So there should be no surprise here.  So sellers should then go and view their MP account and see if they have enough to cover the hold on funds.  If not, make sure you do have enough money in your attached bank account to cover it as they will look to that account to fund the negative balance in MP in a few days.

But there is no reason a seller should get overdraft fees unless they just aren't paying attention to their account.

As an added protection most if not all banks offer free overdraft protections, can't hurt to sign up for that to ease you mind.

No, you're not with me, because I'm not stupid enough to throw my business away because of a payment process change.

already the changes are you have to list each item over rather than select all and list.

So each item has to be individually relisted and after it is relisted then you go to another item to individually relist it?  This sounds like it could be awfully time consuming.  I hope it is only a temporary thing.

IDK why this would need to be done.  We only have two types of listings on Ebay anymore.  Auctions and GTC.

Some people have reported problems with the bulk relist function. That's the only thing I can think of.

Re: eBay not using PayPal anymore?

We for one will probably not link any bank to eBay... I don't think you should give them free rein to your accounts... So I think many sellers will be leaving....I hate to do that, but I am not comfortable with this. Anyone feel the same?  Change is hard...we should conform...but I don't think so...

Re: eBay not using PayPal anymore?

You are so right, we feel the same way...hurry get your items out...hey try to get you to sell them starting at 99 cents...now they even relist them without telling you...even though we put no offers. Then mail them out in one day etc,etc.  all this and now they are jacking with payments...guess we are going to follow suit like many others...the digital people will take our place...oh well good while it lasted like they said.

Re: eBay not using PayPal anymore?

eBay takes the buyers side many times..during the time USPS was under the weather..we got screwed..a buyer wanted his money because he did not get his item...we were waiting due to postal delays...eBay said pay the buyer or you will get a ding on your account...we did. Bugged the post office until we found out that the item was delivered...so the buyer got our item and his money back...we were out of our product and fees!!!! How fair is that?  Now I will wait...but wait after May we may not be selling anymore....just thinking. Thanks for all the info.

You are smart not to do that.  But then Ebay is NOT asking for "free rein" over your bank accounts.  They just need the ability to cover a negative balance in your MP account due to refunds to your buyers.  And they need the ability to deposit to the account.  Some want to make it seem like more, but it isn't.

@nigeltroll

This did happen a few times to me too during the height of the USPS issues.  However I appealed those INRs, the tracking showed delivered and Ebay gave me my money back in ALL cases.

So go and appeal them if any are in the last couple of months.  You'll likely get your money back too.
