eBay not accepting payments on one account but will on another

I accidentally ordered one item on eBay on this account with an old credit card that I cancelled over a year ago so I don't have a clue how it got accepted. Now no payment methods work on this account. I tried my current credit card and google pay to order a different item and both said that the details were invalid. I then set up another account, tried Google Pay with the second item and it worked first time. I've received no indication that this account has been restricted or suspended in any way, what's going on?

eBay accepts debit and credit cards so you should call your bank.
