I know that I'm not the only one because I've seen several similar posts here in the last few days and on other internet forums as well. I tried the recommended action of deleting the payment option of PayPal and then plugging it back in at checkout but it still doesn't work. Using the same payment method used in PayPal directly on eBay works, as does using PayPal anywhere else. It's only a problem of using PayPal on eBay.

When I contacted support, they told me that there are no issues with payment options at the moment (of course their database answer is to use another payment method if one doesn't work) but that's surely a lie if plenty of other people are having the same issue spontaneously within the last 2-3 days. An issue like this would have been detected by now with full transparency to the userbase.

Conveniently, there is a Venmo advertisement posted as soon as the PayPal error pops up. The corporation that owns PayPal also owns Venmo, so I have my suspicions that this may be a deliberate effort to funnel more users over to Venmo for whatever reason (stocks or otherwise).

After deleting the PayPal entry in your eBay Wallet, what happens when you check out and select PayPal as your payment method?

When I do that, I wind up in my PayPal Wallet where I can choose a payment method and complete checkout successfully.

If you are seeing an error message, what does it say?

PayPal has changed their "payment policy" I purchased an item on Ebay, selected PayPal as payment option and PayPal withdrew the money directly from my checking account instead of my PayPal balance. I called PayPal and was told they could choose where to withdraw the payment. If you have a checking account or one of PayPals cards they will use those instead of your PayPal balance..Be aware.

I haven't had any issues with paypal payment and type of payment. .

A red error box with: "PayPal is unable to process your payment at this time. You can try changing the payment method inside of your PayPal account or select a different payment method."

Haven't had this issue before the last several days and it's still persisting. I tried once more to correct it by deleting my PayPal option in the eBay account Payments section, where I continue by heading over to Check Out, select PayPal, login successfully into the wallet, choose my normal card as the payment method, get the "Thank you for using PayPal" buffering screen, and then I get sent back to the Check Out payment options screen with this error banner. Once more, PayPal works fine everywhere else, and the card used works just fine on its own. Everything is up-to-date and correct, same browser being used, so I can't really assume any other issue beyond a new incompatibility between eBay and PayPal based on either coding or the payment policy change that bona mentioned.

I just checked out twice this evening using PayPal and did not encounter any problems paying via a Visa card.

What payment method was funding your PayPal purchase? I have seen a couple of users having problems choosing a Discover card. Can you try a different payment source through PayPal?
