FDIC deposit insurance does not protect accounts from a fraud or theft online (or otherwise).

Ebay doesnt have your banking information. Their payment processor, Adyen does. And Adyen is used on many other huge websites to process payments.

Whether or not eBay has your account info, if a hacker wants it, it's a fair bet the hacker will get it.

Thanks for that observation......
If FDIC doesn't cover theft or fraud, then who does?

Why give them another way to go after you? Time to go back to PayPal!

Maybe the company you are dealing with, but in this case Ebay does not as far as I know. If someone hacks your bank account, you may be on your own.

Maybe, maybe not but I am not going to go around giving my bank account information to everyone that wants it when that is not necessary. Bring back PayPal.

Over the years I have had fraudulent charges to both my bank account and my Paypal account (i.e. hacked). In every case Paypal and/or my bank cancelled the charges and gave me my money back. Paypal is not covered by FDIC so you are right there. Although, since I got my money back, I don't care.
I really don't care whether you are right or not - in all cases I was protected from fraud and theft. So, basically, your post is a red herring.

That won't be happening (for selling purposes; you can still purchase that way). Instead, just get yourself a standalone bank account that is not shared with any other of your financial activities, and you're all set. Separating your business account from your family/personal account only makes sense.

FDIC doesn't cover your Paypal balance, either. They're not a bank.
FDIC and NCUA insurance protects bank or credit union accounts in the case of a bank or credit union failure. They don't cover any sort of online fraud or theft.
Hackers? For a few minutes and few bucks they can have all the information about you that they need regardless if you use Paypal or a bank.
