I saw this is a historical issue with eBay not being able to verify certain cards. I seem to be the latest victim. I buy a lot from eBay I decided to apply for the eBay MasterCard. I was approved with a $7k line. When I got my card I was unable to link my card on eBay. ("unable to verify credit card. Please try a different payment method"). Now.. I'm not technically illiterate. I build computers and work in the bank, so I know how to type in a card number and what channels to go through to make sure things are working. I was able to make SOME purchases by linking it to PayPal, however no longer.
I spoke to synchrony Bank (the issuer) and eBay. It's likely not the issuer because it works elsewhere and links with PayPal. The eBay MasterCard JUST DOESN'T WORK ON EBAY. Dumb, I know. So I HIGHLY recommend no one apply for the card unless they fix this old issue. Because eBay support hasn't a clue what the problem is. The only thing EBAY can do is open a ticket that I won't be contacted about.
So, for now, I'm stuck with a eBay MasterCard I got for eBay that I can't use on eBay. It seems they didn't want me taking advantage of my cashback benefits.
Issue has been going on for 2 weeks now but I know to expect MONTHS of issues.
Has anyone else had similar unfortunate circumstances like myself?

I am currently experiencing this same problem. I also spend a fair bit of money on ebay. Ever since I got my new card it doesn't want to work on ebay. I've removed the card and reentered info, nothing works.

I am also experiencing this issue but my card won't work period on ebay or through paypal. I keep getting error messages to contact provider yet I've been making payments and there is funds on the card. Synchrony says they see no issue and can't understand why and ebay won't even give me the time of day. I agree, do not get this crap credit card and save you the aggression!
