Won car with best offer, why am I getting sent to Escrow.com for payment?

Under Payments, it says, Full payment is required within 7 days of auction close. In the listing it says, IF YOU CHOOSE TO BUY NOW, BUY NOW MEANS PAY NOW. DO NOT BUY NOW AND START ASKING QUESTIONS.

BUY NOW MEANS PAY NOW! FULL PAYMENT SHOULD BE MADE TO PAYPAL. Why doesn't Ebay send me to Paypal for payment. This Escrow service is going charge $70 which I don't want to pay. I asked the seller for their Paypal address but haven't heard back.

Won car with best offer, why am I getting sent to Escrow.com for payment?

The usual way motor vehicle sales are handled on eBay is that the buyer goes to the location of the car, inspects it.  He can either hand over the money in cash or a cashier's check and the seller hands over the keys and title, or he can decide not to buy and simply walk away.

On eBay, the buyer doesn't pay through Paypal for a car.

Do not send payment to the sellers PayPal address!

Pay only through the official eBay checkout page.

See this for information on escrow.

BEWARE THIS IS PROBABLY  A SCAM

PAY CASH IN PERSON

Have car checked out meet the seller in person prior to paying

No way am I going to pay an additional $65 on a $1000 purchase for some useless service. Told the seller to invoice me on Paypal and I paid. Will pick up on Sunday.

I know it's not the usual way but this isn't my first rodeo. Besides the Paypal guaranty and 2% cash back from my credit card, I messaged with seller and feel good about the deal.

I hope you didn't  cra p in your hat. WHAT PayPal guarantee?   Go read the PayPal user agreement.

Vehicles are ineligible for buyer purchase protection. That means even when using a PayPal issued credit card you're not protected. ESCROW.com is the safest way to pay for a car if you're afraid it won't be delivered.  They don't get the money until the seller can prove delivery. Escrow.com doesn't become involved in not as described disputes after it's been delivered so you better be getting it inspected before you pay.

A seller that pressures you for such a fast payment is a seller you want to run from.
