I won a bunch of items from a seller. Because of the high dollar amount, I intended to pay with multiple cards by only paying for a few items at a time. While i was figuring out the card situation, the seller sent invoice for everything on a single invoice. Now I can't "remove" things from my checkout and everything has to be paid at once. I don't have a single card that has high enough credit limit to pay for everything in 1 shot.
How do I fix this without cancelling the order? I do NOT want to cancel the order, I got all the items for good prices and I don't want to risk the items going back up for sale.

just tell the seller - he can send you different invoices but may not know how to do that. tell him what items to combine i each group. you will be paying postage for each group

The seller will have to cancel your order at buyers request, if he chooses to.
Then they will have to relist for you to buy bit by bit - hopefully your seller is willing to do this.
Once the order was confirmed, the seller can no longer change any details or break into any lots or send partial invoices.

It is so important to communicate with your seller BEFORE you purchase anything when you have special needs. We can't possibly know what you wanted to do unless you tell the seller.
And know it is more expensive for the seller to accept multiple payments verse one payment. Along with fees we pay Ebay for sales, there is a per transaction fee too. So when you split up payments like this, please understand if your seller needs to decrease your shipping discount a little over what you would have gotten if all the items shipped together.
Talk with your seller. They are the ones you need to explain this to. They will likely be able to help you work through this without losing any of the wonderful things you want to purchase.
Just remember, we [sellers] can't know stuff you don't tell us.

I know, there is an additional $0.30 transaction fee. We're talking about $8000 total for everything, so the $0.30 is inconsequential. I just never expected the seller to send an invoice because maybe 2% of my auction wins gets an invoice sent, normally only for 1 or 2 things. This order in particular already has free shipping on everything too.
The seller frequently gets negative feedback for not replying to messages, not replying to return requests, and shipping late. The last one I'm not too worried about, but the first two basically means they won't reply to my messages (I already sent one).
Yes, I guess it's my fault for gambling on the seller to NOT send an invoice, but they didn't HAVE to send one (the shipping was already free so there was no reason to send one). It's just a sucky situation. I'll have to talk to my bank to see if they can extend me some emergency credit; I have the full amount to pay with in the bank, its just my credit limit isnt that high.
(and i really wanted to use my cards so I could gain various credit/cash back rewards)

Yes, I would absolutely agree that the per transaction fee doesn't mean much in that case.
While I don't sell anything that expensive, when I have a buyer purchase multiple items from be and they haven't submitted payment yet, I invoice them.
Why the heck would you buy from a seller with that kind of reputation? That sounds like trouble to me and a whole lot of money to put in harms way. Well the up side is they would be racking up defects with what you describe, so their selling account could certainly be at risk.
Do you have a PayPal account? If you do they extend credit. Maybe take a look at that.
I love cash back rewards. I let my grow all year long and then it is my Christmas Fund or at least part of it, LOL , every year. Works great for me.

They're one of those "big" sellers. Over 100,000 feedback. I gather they just let the money do the talking and let customer service fall by the wayside. I'm not worried about getting something not as described or something like that since I have the ebay buyer guarantee available.
It's a lot of money, sure. They're all non-working items that I know I can turn around for a profit with minimal effort after fixing or salvaging them.
They also sent invoice within an hour of winning the auctions. I can understand sending an invoice some days afterwards as a friendly reminder.
It's whatever though. Paypal is a last resort option that has a bank account attached to it. I'd just be giving up cash back rewards by using it (about $250 or so) so you can understand my reluctance to not use it.

Paypal has a program for purchases like this. I'm not talking about using your checking account attached to PP. They have a special program. Years ago they bought a company called Bill me Later or something like that. So they will pay your seller and you make installment payments to them.

The seller got back to me, to my surprise, and they found a way to void the original invoice and to issue 2 separate invoices inside ebay (it shows up as 2 different invoices in checkout that I can pay for separately). I asked for an amount not to exceed and they did that, I paid it, and a smaller invoice remains that they said I could pay when able to.

That is wonderful news. I'm VERY glad this worked out for you. I'm glad your seller worked with you to resolve the issue. Always remember to contact your seller FIRST whenever you have any type of issue or question. They are really the ones to help you find a resolution on a transaction.
ENJOY your purchases.

I would love to know how the seller did this, in the 2 years of being on MP I have never figured out how to re-issue an invoice let alone issue 2 individually two split one sale amount.

I've never had the need to do this, so I simply don't know how they did it.

i have had to do this in the past....(so this is by memory since I can't test these steps)
I sent a combined invoice for 5 items....seller preferred to ship 2 and then 3....
I believe it was in the dropdown box in the shipping window that I could "UNCOMBINE" items and resubmit different invoices....I just can't remember exactly where....but I know you can do it.....(after you send a combined invoice to save buyer shipping costs)
it might have been in that secondary "Shipping Labels" window you can access....I don't think you can do it AFTER buyer pays....

That sounds like it would work. I've had to uncombined invoices before so I could add another item, and that is the process I did. I've just never had to split up a invoice.
I bet you are right!
