I just received the message "We couldn't complete your previous payout and credited the amount back to your available funds." Apparently the bank account that I've used for years is no longer valid for payouts? Im a bit confused and worried because its the only account I have to bank with. Im being told to add another bank account. Is this a bug or what is going on here? If a reason was provided as to why it is no longer valid would be more professional but now I have to ask the community for help. What would cause a sudden invalid bank account for payouts?

Good question... or at least one I've never heard. Sit back and see if you get posters with experience/knowledge. Dang.

There have been previous reports of some banks being unacceptable to Ebay.
There are plenty free checking accounts available. Find one at another bank.

My debit card date expired last month and I had to add the new one...to make sure I get paid.
Sometimes, what's on file does expire.
I was so scared my new updated card wouldn't work but it did.
Now my credit card expires next month...

@ericodapro actually BofA has been an issue since Managed Payments started, and many sellers were not EVER able to even use their BofA accounts and had to get another one. If you were able, you were lucky but looks like now, no longer.
Just saw an article that said BofA is closing many B/M locations throughout the country as well......

They have had a lot of problems with BOA accounts in some states and they won't accept them, but it's usually states in the East.

Now, that ^^^ I've heard of. It was fitful for some to onboard with BOA and some weren't allowed to at all.
When I onboarded, I used my (decades old) joint BOA account and never had a problem. With that being said, I stopped selling last Spring. Admittedly, the hair on my neck stood up with your first post... fearing you were BOA. What is really up??

Either way a reason should be given so that we can alleviate the issue quickly instead of this guessing game. Obviously they know exactly what the issue is so why make things so difficult for us.

They might not know the reason it didn't go through.

If ebay doesnt know the reason then that would be alarming for sure, the problem isnt with my bank since it has worked without a hitch for years and I am still able to purchase items with it as well.
This issue has not fixed itself and now I need to take this to the next level. What would be my next move? Talk to a rep? I havent done this before and not sure how to go about it.
