Seller not responding when I ask them to cancel my order.

Hello. I recently placed a bid on an item, but I later changed my mind. I tried to retract my bid, but when I tried to do so, I was unable to do it even though there was more than twelve hours left until the auction ended. I asked the seller to retract my bid and later that day, they told me to retract it, myself. I replied saying that I was unable to retract the bid and if they, themselves, are unable to cancel the bid, I also asked them to cancel my order once the auction ended if I won it.

After the auction ended this morning, I won it, but the seller didn't cancel my order. I sent them a message asking them to cancel my order. No response. Later in the day, I asked them to cancel my order, again. Still no response. I'm worried that they're not reading my messages and they're gonna ship it even though I told them not to. How can I get them to cancel my order besides messaging them and what should I do if they ship the item?

I'd also like to add that although the seller has mostly positive feedback, there has been some negative feedback they received from buyers who claimed that the seller wasn't responding to their messages and that they requested to cancel the order, but the seller didn't respond until after the item was shipped.

Great news. I sent another message to the seller and not too long after I did so, they cancelled my order. I'm very glad that they did that.

The best that I can do, now, is wait until tomorrow because this might be a time zone problem and the seller might've been asleep when I sent them those messages. Hopefully, they'll read my messages and cancel my order because since tomorrow's Labor Day, they should have plenty of time to read my messages and cancel my order.

They are probably waiting for the 4 days to pass before they cancel in that case you get a mark on your account that you did not pay.It doesn't mean much unless sellers have it marked that non paying bidders that have two or more strikes (in some time frame) will not be allowed to bid on their items.I don't think anyone would ship before payment is made.

Luckily, I don't have any marks on my account. I also do know that they do read their messages on days when post offices are usually closed such as Sunday and I'm sure that they'll also be reading their messages on Labor Day.

By the way, I did buy the item so I could have a higher chance of showing the seller that I'm not a scammer. Therefore, I have a better chance of having my order cancelled.

Sellers aren't required to cancel.

As a buyer, you need to understand ebay policy and that your bid was a binding contract. You agreed that when you bid and if you win, you will follow through on the purchase.

Since you are a seller yourself, you should just follow through on your obligations and list and resell the item yourself. You might even be able to make a profit over what you paid!

I understand that. I have plans of what I could do with the item once if does get shipped. I prefer if I didn't get the item, but I'd work things out for myself if the seller does ship the item. One of those things that I can do is resell it since I know that I could make a pretty big profit from it.

Familiarize yourself with eBay's return policy. In some cases, you may be able to return the item even if the seller is unresponsive, but this largely depends on the seller's return policy and the condition of the item when you receive it.

If the seller paid for all expenses, I'd return the item. However, it'd be unlikely that they'd let me return it because their profile says that they don't accept returns.

You need to really decide if you want the item before placing that binding bid. 482 is a huge amount of retractions.

Lift your left leg at midnight to start off on the right foot. Happy new Year!

Re: Seller not responding when I ask them to cancel my order.

That's a problem I have. I change my mind a lot. However, half of those times I retract a bid, I do it because the previous bidder place a bid that's over my budget. I don't pay that much for auctions that I bid on with the maximum amount of money being between $16 USD and $17 USD. I'm gonna have to narrow down what I really wanna bid on right now.

In moving forward  please consider using your watch list prior to placing a bid on the item you are considering but not 100% sure of
