Re: Scam?

Yes, it's a scam.

If you really want to throw him for a loop, tell him that you can't include the card with the package because it's not a part of the item description and if you do include it, it would leave you open to a not as described claim and that's just the way eBay works, sorry, wish I could help.

Re: Scam?

This is a standard scam, usually aimed at new sellers such as yourself.

Do sellers not reply with something like, "Why don't YOU simply buy the gift card and send it to the recipient? Wouldn't it be $53 cheaper for you that way?"

Re: Scam?

That is a very old SCAM.    You will receive a FAKE payment notice and never be paid.  That used to be called the Russian wedding scam as the gift cards and purchased item were "gifts" for a wedding in Russia.  It was popular about twenty years ago.  It has started making the rounds about a year ago.

Your a new seller, you can expect a lot of scammers. You were wise to come here and check.

Re: Scam?

I am also new to selling on ebay..I have had 3 ppl say they were buyers and all 3 did exactly the same.  Wanting a gift card included.

It is very disheartening. I was so excited when i saw that first sell pop up and then to realize it was somebody trying to steal from me.

Like I stated 3 buyers and all 3 trying to steal from me. It makes me really question my choice of selling on your website.

I apologize for sounding ugly but i have had nothing positive happen.

Re: Scam?

You would be surprised at how many poor souls fall for this and then come here asking how to get their money back.  That is even worse.  Count yourself 'lucky'.

Unfortunately, that's the fate of the new seller these days.  It's not just on eBay, either.  On Poshmark I had to go through a period of scammers hassling me until I got enough sales under my belt and then it stopped.

Try purchasing some items on this account to at least get your feedback number up out of the '0' territory - it may help.

Re: Scam?

Thank you for the recommendation.

I probably should not say this but by the time #3 thief came along I

was so disgusted I flipped my twig and cussed that loser like a dog.

It was so bad i went to cuss at them again and they had imediatley

blocked my msgs. LOL

Please forgive me my fellow EBay mates but enough was enough.

A $500 gift card!!!

Its a shame that ppl cant try and earn a little extra income to supplement

their income being gone during the whole Covid  Crisis and some bozo tries

to steal it from you.

Literally trying to take food off your families table. It's a sin.

Thank you for your patience and letting me vent.

God Bless to all and again thank you.

Re: Scam?

Oh I just noticed that you are listing using the reserve price special listing feature..You are charged nonrefundable fees for using that feature. You can see the costs right above where you click LIST ITEM.

Just start the bidding at the lowest price you would take for the item and then there is no need to pay for that feature.
