Why are my buyers in other states being charged Sales Tax on items they purchase from me. NH doesn't have a sales tax. I understand that the sales tax is calculate based on the Buyer's state and I am not charged sales tax when I buy and item and have it shipped to my home in NH. What I am asking is where does the buyer's sales tax go if my state doesn't collect sales tax? It doesn't make sense to me that the buyer's state would get to keep the sales tax. Thanks.

"It doesn't make sense to me that the buyer's state would get to keep the sales tax.""
And yet that's exactly what happens. The buyer's sales tax goes to the buyer's state. eBay collects the sales tax funds and sends the money to the buyer's state.

Your state does not collect it:
but the buyer is not in your state: they are in theirs and they do charge tax.
That is the why: they (states) the purchaser lives in; want their part of that sale.

You lucky devil. My state (and local) taxes add 9 1/4% to all of my purchases. 😑

Move on up! Real estate is pretty reasonable here in New Hampshire.

So eBay is doing you a huge favor. You do not have to collect and resubmit to all the other states you sell in.

The buyer lives in his state. The buyer uses the various services funded by the state sales tax that he pays to his state. Why should the buyer's state not receive the state sales tax funds?
