Redeeming eBay card

I Bought two eBay cards for birthday presents neither one of the cards will redeem it states that they are empty and they came straight from the store I bought them from what do I do

You can go here to read up on gift cards and their use, but it sounds like the store you bought them from didn't activate them. Did you save the receipts?
