Possible scam attempt

Hi all, I have just sold an item on the Bay, marked as being paid for a few minutes later.

The buyer then messaged me asking for my name, address and my bank details. Hm.

I replied that he had been credited as having paid and giving my address.

His reply came that he was not used to how things worked, in spite of numerous purchases over a good number of years on his timeline thing.

Am I right to be suspicious. I don't sell much, so have limited experience.

Thank you in advance.

Re: Possible scam attempt

Kinda funky... but nothing to be suspicious of. If the order is under Orders/Awaiting shipment, ship it. Good luck.

Re: Possible scam attempt

Did the buyer pay? Is the order in your Awaiting Shipping tab in your seller hub? If the answer is yes,  just ship your buyers item. The buyer doesn’t need your name and address they will have it once they receive their item.

Did the order page on your ebay shows as being paid? Or did the buyer send a message telling you he paid?

Re: Possible scam attempt

Where is the buyer from?

There are a few countries they can do bank transfers, so he might be thinking about that?

Re: Possible scam attempt

Hello to all who replied.

It turns out that my doubts were groundless. Ebay has transferred the purchase cost to my account.

It was the buyer asking for my account numbers which made me wonder. Perhaps he really was just not quite with the methods of payment.

Thank you for your comments.
