PayPal no longer wanted to process payments for eBay, for a number of good reasons of its own. PayPal gave eBay a specified time to find another processor and move all its sellers to that system. So eBay did, and you can either sign up for Managed Payments or not sell on eBay. Do be aware, though, that every other on-line marketplace has its own version of MPs and, in fact, did so long before eBay did.

If you are concerned about giving out your account number to eBay I would open a separate account. If you talk to accountant they would suggest that anyways. It’s always a good idea to keep your business expenses separate from your personal expenses. It will a lot easier to prepare taxes each year.
Also, you will have to provide eBay with your social security or EIN number. If you don’t want to provide your social security number to eBay you apply for EIN number by calling the IRS or online at IRS.gov. Your social security or EIN number is required so eBay can issue you a 1099K each year you sell more than $600.00. Due to changes to the laws by the previous administration all payment processors are required to issue 1099’s when a person receives more than $600.00 per year.
If you do it right you could get a deposit from your sales like I do every single business day. There is nothing better than sell stuff every day and get money deposited in your account 5 days a week.

I know, I had to look at the thread date to make sure it wasn't 2020. Blast from the past.

I get your apprehension about sharing your banking details, but I for one hope they never use Paypal (for direct payment to us) again.
When Paypal was a thing, buyers would file non receipt claims right after I shipped and win. How do you win a non receipt claim in 4 days? It was ridiculous, and all the scammers did their claims through Paypal. I haven't had any of this type of nonsense since Paypal went away (which for me was June 2021).
Getting rid of Paypal was one of a few wonderful things that happened to my business on eBay.

it's been awhile, but I seem to recall that "back in the day"
when I wanted my money from Paypal, I had to link a checking account.....

It suXX! Guess i can no longer sell on ebay! Just buy through paypal. I'd have to find a new bank i don't care about and hardly keep money in it if i am to give bank info to a site. This suuxxx! I've NEVER had ANY problems with Paypal in 25 years! No one thing!

"You are providing your bank account information to others each time you pay with a check."

Do they still make checks? I haven't seen a check for a really long time. (Smiles!)

You could spend it directly from there. (never wanted to buy enough to do that)
You could have a "paper check" mailed to you. (was there, did that)

I have a second "free" checking account just for eBay with my CU. Theywere easy to find, and it was handled in just minutes.

My business bank account has a chequebook so I can pay the coin store for the stuff I sell for them. They'd really prefer cash (in the owner's pocket) but I need proof of what I gave them to lower the amount I'm taxed on.

October 2002. PayPal is sold to eBay for $1.5 billion, in a highly touted "marriage" between digital auction and online payment services.
People tend to forget that how much un-happiness there was when forced in to using Pay-Pal!
