Payout handling is completely unacceptable

I've been a menber for over 20 years with 2042 100% positive feedback.  I am an infrequent seller.  on October on a weekend, I sold a Galaxy phone for $150.00.    The money was in my account on the next Tuesday.    Today I sold two watrches and am to receive 179.00.  I shipped them with tracking this morning. Ebay is saying my funds are on hold until December 22.  I called sustomer service and they tell me I will not be paid until the buyer leaves positive feedback or sends a note saying they have received them.  What  if the buyer receives them and likes them but just doesn't feel like leaving feedback?  If this is the way things are to be, Ebay will lose a longtime member.

Payout handling is completely unacceptable

"I am an infrequent seller" and that says it all...

eBay now considers any infrequent/occasional seller same as a "new" seller and therefore there are limits on both the number of listings you can post as well as the value of the goods sold in a given month. And yes, there can be holds on your funds as well... until your credibility is re-established with eBay...

This is happening more and more to those sellers who do not have regular sales on eBay. The time is gone where the occasional seller had same accredited status as those sellers who have consistent daily/weekly sales...

I know this because I am one of those infrequent/occasional sellers who is going down that same path> now treated as a "new seller" because I did not list/sell anything for 6 months...

I had a very nice cnversation with Adam, a team lead in Ebay CS.  He assured me that I will be paid as soon asthe watches are delivered. All this confusion is still being caused by the split from Paypal.

I'm glad that Adam was able to talk you off the ledge, but I think @mrdutch1001 is correct that it is your "infrequent seller" status that created the problem... not the absence of PayPal. Good sales and good luck!

You're considered a new seller and your funds will held.

They were holding them until after tracking shows the item was delivered, but lately, they've been holding funds for 30 days.

Don't know why they said the buyer had to leave feedback or send a message to get the funds released because it don't work that way.

Have a great day.

Ebay has had a rule for many years, long before you went into MP regarding New sellers and sellers returning to selling after 90+ days away.  Sometimes you will get lucky and it doesn't get started on your account for a couple transactions but then it catches up to you, like it did for you.

The CSR you talked to is partially right but not completely.  Here is the rule you need to know.

Yes, because that is the next Business day.  What did you expect?

Exactly. I too have been a member for awhile (24years) with an unblemished record and just have been informed this morning by a rep (supposedly in eBay's accounts policy dept.) who basically told me the same thing. Their 'hold software' triggered by the infrequent seller needs a few adjustments in view of the risk of losing a sizable number of eBayers with a history. If I didn't know better (& I really have no idea although I confess having had some nagging suspicions that eBay can easily make a killing through all its 'held' transactions by "kiting the check " that little neighborhood banks used to employ regularly  back in the day). I've sold gear to other operations (who of course are a lot smaller) with similar commission structures but with payment schedules (if at all) that are fair and responsive in comparison to eBay. When Paypal was in place, there were noticeably fewer built-in snags and restrictions and they both made money. It'll be no surprise if eBay is replaced or goes belly up from indifference.

Necro thread, doesnt matter how long you've been a member, your last sales, before this recent one, was more than a year ago. With no recent selling history, Ebay is treating you as a new seller. They prefer that any refunds come out of your pocket, not theirs.Ebay is not holding your funds, Managed Payments is, and they dont 'front' the funds to sellers like PP did.

It is a rule that has been in place a LONG time.  It has solid reasons for existing and is absolutely important to the security and safety of Ebay has a whole.

For sellers that are returning to selling after an extended it time away, hackers / pirates go after dormant accounts frequently.  Easier to take them over and use them for their own reasons.  But with this hold in place, they can't get the money.  It is likely that the problems that would start popping up with the buyers would show up BEFORE any of the money got released to them.

Ebay has had a rule for many years that pertains to New Seller and sellers that have been away from selling for 90+ days. The following is the policy that outlines why you money is likely on hold.
