I changed my bank account last week as the one I had on file was closed last year, and the verification on this took the 48 hours eBay say it should.
I was then trying to get my funds withdrawn, but the button was not available. When I spoke to someone, he said I had to set my card on file as the default for my selling fees - which I did. The details were not changed, just the checkbox.
Now I have been waiting a week for ebay to verify this card - that was already on file. I have seen the 1p micro deposit go in, and now it just won't go back out.
I need to make a purchase with cash, I have already missed out once due to this nonsensical order of operations. I just want to be able to withdraw MY money, it seems like ebay is doing everything it can to hold onto money in seller accounts just to maximise the interest it recieves.
If ebay want people to come flocking back, they need to make sure their system works, works fast, and does not uneccesarily hold onto our payments.
Please help, I just want my money withdrawn!

When I speak to anyone in customer service after having Ebay call me, they just tell me this is normal and I have to wait.
I cannot afford to wait! The money should be in my account acruing interest, not yours!

Payment holds are standard for new and infrequent sellers. EBay is not a fastcash option.
Here is the 2 minute read on Payment Holds.

Since it's been awhile since you've sold anything, they can hold the funds for 30 days.
The item you sold, sold for $1000 and they will hold the funds for 30 days.

I am a software engineer so I know how these systems work. It does not take any longer than 48h max to deposit a penny into someone's bank account, and then take it back out.
I am not a new or infrequent seller. I have been on ebay for close to 15 years.

You might be here close to 15 years, but you've only sold 13 items, which makes you a newer seller.
They will hold the money for 30 days.
Is your checking account through a real bank?
Have you gone to your MP account and verified the amounts of the micro deposits?
If they are having problems withdrawing the micro deposit, that could be a problem.

Not a newer seller.
They will hold the money for 30 days in order to maximise how much interest they make. It's daylight robbery nothing more.

EBay participates in risk management. Any seller that has been active the last ~five years knows that.

It's not a new card. I just clicked the 'make default for selling fees' button.
The card was verified years ago.
