Pay in 4

For some reason, I have lost the option when checking out to select the Pay in Four PayPal option.  Why did this happen and how can I get it back?

I wish I knew, but it has disappeared for me too on every website. PayPal themselves can't answer why or what is going on.

There are a couple of reasons:

One.

The item you are buying is requiring immediate payment.  This often affects whether the Pay in 4 will show up for the sale or not. Another way around this issue, is to remove PayPal from eBay as a funding source for the account (as a saved source), and then choose it during the checkout instead, and that might pop it back up.

Two.

The item listing might not qualify for Pay in 4 at all.  There are some thresholds like amount or type of item that can prevent it from showing up on some purchases.  Though what those thresholds are, I don't know.

I just randomly tested this with a few listings, and none of them popped Pay in 4.  But after I deleted the paypal option from my account, I could see it here in PayPal:

But because I was buying an 11 dollar item, I can't use it for that transaction.

If you mean that when you check out of eBay and select PayPal, you are not able to choose a specific payment method in your PayPal wallet but one is automatically selected for you, in that case go to your eBay Payments page in your eBay account and delete the entry for PayPal that appears there.

The next time you check out on eBay and choose PayPal, you should be sent to your PayPal wallet page and given a chance to pick a specific payment method, including Pay-in-4 if the transaction qualifies.
