Why does eBay continue to pocket the FVF's on shipping when I make a partial refund?
I was under the assumption that customer service was important to them. Considering the sheer volume they process each day, that excess amount can add up to a few million a year for eBay.
I am trying to provide excellent customer service to my buyers when they pay to much for shipping or don't use the "request total from seller" feature.
Example: I sell a ton of autograph cards. I have national and international buyers. I have requested, since they buy multiple cards, to request a total from me so I can provide them the exact ship cost. Today, a buyer in LA, bought about 15 cards. He paid $66.25 for shipping. The actual cost came to $4.00. I am not about to pocket the difference. I called eBay to get a FVF on shipping refunded back to me because I refunded my buyer the difference. All I got was - "We don't refund back FVF's for partial refunds". That does not tell me why they don't do it. Its a simple programming issue. If Managed Payments can pick up a 100% refund it sure as heck can pick up any %.
This just gets under my skin.

Ebay has never, ever, refunded FVF's on a partial refund. Were ebay to start doing that, the lost revenue would have to be made up in some way, most likely an increase in the FVF to 13 or 14 %.
One way or another, you are going to pay.
