Overcharge for item ordered

Anonymous
Not applicable

I ordered a camera for $249US  (item plus shipping) to be paid by credit card in Canadian dollars. I should have paid $314Cdn. My credit card statement shows I paid $328Cdn. This is $15Cdn more than it should have cost.

I have been unable to contact anyone who will explain this overcharge. Am unable to contact ebay.

Re: Overcharge for item ordered

You have not specified where you're located or your shipping address, but could the difference possibly be state sales tax if item is being shipped to one of the 42 or so US states that require eBay to collect state sales tax on internet purchases?

Money conversion fee, import fee, sales tax? This is the US site, you may want to post on the Canadian site.

Cad$328 divided by Cad$314 = 4.5% upcharge

If your transaction requires a currency conversion, we will use a retail exchange rate (the wholesale cost of foreign currency as denominated by an outside financial institution) plus a conversion service charge of 4.5%.
