I had a payment about $2400 "paid out" to my bank account Nov 6. Everything in the ebay payments says this is a positive deposit and not a bill or a fee. It says "Payout for payout ID xxxx Sent to xxxx Bank *xxxx"
I checked my bank statement this morning and the $2400 shows, but it is a DEBIT (a negative number) and NOT a deposit. Thinking it was a visual glitch, I called my local branch and they confirmed that this transfer was a DEBIT and NOT a deposit.
What sort of scam is ebay running? Ebay stole $4800 from me for no reason (the amount that I should have been paid, AND they "billed" me the amount I should have been paid)
This needs to be fixed RIGHT NOW.

Checked my bank again this morning. The original debit has vanished and now instead there is a credit in the same amount. I was 100% certain the original uncleared charge was a debit (it showed a negative amount with a negative sign and black colored numbers instead of a positive amount with a + sign and green colored numbers). But now that the $2400 has cleared, it is showing a positive amount and a credit. The rolling bank balance is also correct and reflects this.
Problem solved.

@ssateneth WOW... I have no words for this error that can be said here.
Right now the estimated call back time is 48 minutes, which is usually not very accurate. The best time to call MP to get on the call back list is at 5am pacific time when they open.
Request the call back from the bottom of this help page>

Have you had any cases against you??
Sound very strange.

Have you clicked on the actual payout ID number? If you haven't done that yet, try doing that and see what the transactions in that deposit look like.

I got on the phone with ebay. The agent confirmed that I am not the only person affected by this, where there is a confirmed payout to the bank account, but the bank accounts show a debit (negative) instead of a credit (positive). I got the name of the agent and a case ID number. They said their IT team is aware of the issue and it is being worked on, but there is no ETA, and they could not confirm or deny if any compensation will be given. They also said they will be calling back in 3 days to check if a resolution has completed.

Didn't this same thing happen on Etsy in the past where money was being taken out of sellers banks instead of being deposited? Seems like I remember reading their discussion boards when this was happening. They use the same payment processor as eBay uses.

I am 100% certain it was supposed to be a POSITIVE payout, not a negative. There are 7 transactions inside the payout. 6 of them are payments totalling over $3090 and 1 refund for $690, totalling over $2400. Ebay screwed up.

Holy Cow!!! So, eBay took $2400.00 from the account? I hope you did not incur any overdrafts. This is just terrible and, quite frankly, scary.

3 days?! eBay considers that an acceptable response, that a seller should just have to be out thousands of dollars plus overdraft fees and possible late/missed bills, but they'll check back with you in 3 days to see if it has been resolved?
This is the level of service that deserves an $11 million bonus for Wendy Jones, SVP of Global Operations and Customer Service? 😲
@ssateneth - I am so sorry this has happened to you and I hope someone at eBay steps up to get this taken care of ASAP.
If it were me, I'd be filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the FTC, your state Attorney General and the California Attorney General - and I wouldn't be waiting 3 days to see if eBay does the right thing first.

I doubt very seriously this is a "scam". Absolutely a SERIOUS issue that needs immediate attention. Ebay is a large corporation that has no need to steal a few thousand dollars from a few sellers at the risk of performing illegal acts within the MP system which would jeopardize their Money Processing license.
That doesn't take away from the seriousness of this issue and the need for immediate attention to this matter. I've VERY sorry this has happened to you and hope that it is fixed right away.

How much is this going to cost em??
How much security of the users was violated??
Bet we never learn.

If you get any help from Ebay, would you please keep us informed.

Like I said earlier. I already called ebay, the agent drew out the phone call stating multiple times they were writing out a report and was confirming details about what happened several times. They provided their first name and provided a case ID number with REQ00000xxxxxxx (x's obviously censored). It's down to the waiting game for me.
I'm not in a huge rush to fix things since i have plenty of liquid in the bank account that this happened on, but if it isn't resolved in the timeframe the agent gave me (72 hours), I won't be afraid to phone up a storm.
