What's with managed payment? It's confusing. Why do I have to give them my checking account information ? Do they want social security as well? No more paypal? Why do I have to do it and others don't? I can't sell unless I do managed payment? I feel like Im being picked on. Sorry I'm starting a new account and or going to another site. Why in the hell do I have to do managed payments and other don't. That's just lame. IMO. Sorry but that's how I feel. I also read online that ebay will fall because of this move. I don't understand the whole thing. From what I read it don't sound good. à

@kenjap
They need your checking account information so they can send you your payments.
Yes, they require your SSN.
Before long, we'll all be in MP if we want to sell here.
They are switching sellers into MP, in groups and it just happens to be your time.
Some sellers don't like it because they don't get their payment as fast as they did with Pay Pal.

If you have received an email that you will be entering MP, if you want to continue to sell on this site, the sooner you give them the information they require the better for you. Giving them the information does not speed up your actual entry date into the program. But it gives them time to process the info and reach out to you if they have any questions before you go active and thus reducing the risk to payments being held because you haven't processed all the info they need.
You can look at other sites. But you will find all sites that are in Ebay's league all have their own MP type system.
There are always some that don't like any change that any site will make. There is nothing new in that. It is human nature. Is MP as flexible as PP. Unfortunately no. MP has lots of room for improvement and it time it will get there.
But the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Other selling sites (like the one that starts with an “m”) do not request your social until/unless you are close to the minimum that they send you a 1099-k.

That sure puts them at risk for IRS penalties. If that seller doesn't want to comply and they hit that limit, if Mercari doesn't have the SSN, they can get slapped with a penalty from IRS. If they get burnt too many times, they will change.
