Managed Payments

Our local rural bank requires us to come inside to open a new account to be used specifically for "managed payments". Why does eBay feel the CDC of the US Federal Governments guidelines for high risk individuals should not be followed? Has the almighty dollar become more valuable than human life? We cannot list, relist or adjust pricing now and we are told are account will be frozen from selling at the end of the month. Yet, they still want their monthly store fee that was renewed November 2020 for one year. Says  a lot about who is running this company. Risk peoples lives during a worldwide epidemic to generating more profit. Truly pathetic.

Re: Managed Payments

You don't have to have a 'new' account. I opted into Managed Payments and use my personal account that I've had for decades. Can you not use an account you already have?

@dnasilver

From the way you have phrased this, it sounds like your local bank is the one with the problem because it is they - the bank that is requiring you to go inside to have an account to be used specifically for MP.

Now, if it is you - who wants a bank acct to be used specifically for MP...that is a different story.  If you do not want to use your existing account for MP, then yes, that is going to be the case for everyone who wants a separate account just for MP...unless you use an online bank institution like chime.

I did open a separate account for MP myself.  I did not want to co-mingle my MP payments with anything else that comes into my long established checking acct.  So yes, I went in.

You can ask your bank when the best time for you to go in b/c of your worries about covid.  Hopefully they will be able to give you the best time to be there to limit your risk.

Re: Managed Payments

Excuse me as a high risk disabled American I will not risk my life for eBay to increase profits. I guess Christians only care about themselves nowadays. We bank with who we choose. We have a one year agreement that is not being fulfilled by eBay. We will follow CDC guidelines and our Doctors not anyone else.

Re: Managed Payments

No we can not. Our personal accounts are not tied to our trust accounts. Paypal was strictly set up for selling off items.

There isn't any problem with your decision.  You still have options.  You can:

  • Use your existing account.
  • Open an account with an online banking institution like Chime (there are several to choose from.)
  • Just wait until the pandemic is over to then go in and open that account that you want/need.

There are always options...😁

The choice is yours.

What do "Christians" have to do with any of this? Yes, you can bank with who you choose, but if YOUR bank requires something that virtually every other bank in the country does NOT require, that's YOUR problem and YOUR bank's problem, not eBay's.

You're going to have to explain what this means in the context of having Adyen (eBay's processor) transmit money into a checking account.

Re: Managed Payments

I feel an agreement is an agreement. Our store renewed in November of 2020 for one year. Now we pay for a store we can not use. Yep our problem. Actually, it is everyone's when companies put value of the almighty dollar over one's life it should concern all.

Re: Managed Payments

We plan on waiting until we can get vaccinated. But eBay is not fulfilling our one year agreement on our store. Charge us a monthly fee yet we cannot list. When companies put the almighty dollar ahead of your life, everyone should be worried.

We will let you have a lawyer explain it.

Re: Managed Payments

Not a bank expert, but are you saying that you can't open an additional account with your bank online? That is very weird. Time to change banks.

How does your bank know why you want to open a new account, for what purpose, why do they care?

In terms of transferring money to your bank the term "managed payments" has no meaning. "Managed payments"  is an ebay linguistic invention. When an employer deposits salaries into employees'  bank accounts, it is also 'managed payments'.

I use Capitalone. Opened a new account in 60 seconds. All necessary personal information was already on file.

Re: Managed Payments

Ebay just made a recent announcement about letting sellers change their store subscription without penalties. You should take advantage of that opportunity.

And this is something they routinely do when they make changes like this. People are given the opportunity to opt out of their store agreement.
