Recently, I enrolled in Ebay Mangeed Payments for sellers because the indicastion was that my selling acount would be limited if I did not switch from Paypal to Managed Payments. I have been very disappointed and frankly, I feel defrauded by Ebay, because I still have not received funds in my account from a sale 3 days ago. I miss Paypal, when I transferred the funds to my bank account myself, and the money was available the next day. I would like to hear from other disgruntled sellers and discuss ways around this inferior system.

fully agree - I did not choose - but I could not find another place to sell
managed payments
most of my items price range is between $1 and $2 plus $4 for shipping
I calculated several price ranges and found out you have to sell
for $9 and more to be even with the prior fee system or better
which means if you want to make profit you have to raise the
prices and make the buyers unhappy or maybe even loose them
you still have to wait longer for your money to be in your account
between 2 and 4 days
today I had to call them,
in my listings I offer buyers combined shipping - which ebay promotes
the buyer ordered and paid separate (maybe did not know how to combine or ask for it)
old system NO PROBLEM (I refunded the buyer the shipping cost and received ebay and paypal credit)
new MANAGED PAYMENTS no fee refund from ebay, had to call them to fix it (took 40 minutes), received credit for refund fees but not for the 2nd 30 cents transaction fee
I forgot to mention - I NEVER had a paypal fee per transaction = TRANSACTION FEE -
I only had a 5.?? % fee of the total amount
(I always calculated with 6% so I don't remember how much it was behind the period)
and I always received refunds automatic as soon as I refunded the customers
old system I could see in paypal (open 1 window and log in) if and what I sold
now I have to log into our different ebay accounts to see what's going on
also ebay raised the final value fee percentage
and charges fee on taxes
see here:
Final value fees
We charge one final value fee when your item sells, and you don't have to worry about third-party payment processing fees. This fee is calculated as a percentage of the total amount of the sale, plus $0.30 per order.
The total amount of the sale includes the item price, any handling charges, the shipping service the buyer selects, sales tax, and any other applicable fees.

All this is fine as far as information goes...but many of us do not use a checking account. My money-ALL my eBay money goes to PayPal. That is my business account. Banks get in the way, charge fees just to have an account then again to have money transferred

And I want to continue paying my invoice monthly...if they want their money immediately, then I should have the same courtesy. Paying monthly is the way that works best for me.

I understand change, however, when something is not broke don't fix it. I wonder how many millions eBay paid for this junk of a system?
There is just one thing I don't understand and that is we pay eBay for a service, they do not pay us. I would think that the majority of the sellers are not in agreement with the managed payments system and the fact that the classic view is gone.
If they paid us to sell on their site, I understand, but they don't.
As a seller on eBay for 10 plus years they are taking away our freedom, and spending our money on things we don't want.
When is enough going to be enough?

Even though it's a pain in the @$$ sometimes, i am using Offerup, Mercari and FB Marketplace more and more..
Strange how they take their cut immediately but make us waite days for our money?

By the way the lie eBay gave us was stating the program is cheaper. You don't make statements like that when it is just false.
So true, being charge against sales tax is highly questionable. How do you determine costs when you do not control where the item sells. States, Counties, Cities all have sales tax rates that varies. Not a big deal when you sell $1 items but when you sell an item in the hundreds you are losing out and eBay is making money off of charging a percentage against sales tax. A fixed fee is one thing for managing sale tax but a percentage against an unknown cost is just wrong. eBay is not saving anyone money. Like you said they flat out "lied" and misrepresented the true costs of managed payments. Zero advantage to the seller and longer wait times for buyers. In the Numeristic industry you do not ship until money is in hand.

only if a buyer can find the same exact item and certain markets every item is unique. So there is no other seller.

It's not quite that simple.
I haven't received a payout in 2 months. Not one dime.
I opened a checking account just for managed payments. While I was in the hospital with Covid, eBay kept dipping into the account, taking money back out, totally unfettered. I was unaware of this, being in the hospital. When I got out, I had two letters waiting for me from the bank: 1, was to tell me that my account had been over drafted many times, and they had now also assessed bank fees on the account, together totalling more than $245.00. I called the bank, who had, by this time closed the account out, but still wants $245. I called eBay and asked if they were going to pay this, and I got the silent treatment. I called many times, but only got the silent treatment. Got a few more sales, I shipped out without shipping costs having been given to me by ebay, as ebay previously promised to all of us. They were supposed to credit our account with cost of shipping, so we'd have money to ship. That hasn't happened. So, I pay for shipping out of my pocket, only to find that ebay is keeping all the money from the sale, because they found new things to charge me for (some adjustment of something from 5 or 6 months ago... No place to find proof of this, but ebay never sends proof along with their messages that they are taking all the money I just made.
This MP is not good business. It is not run in a professional manner like some bank would do it. It's arbitrary, there are no rules in writing about what eBay can and cannot do within the system, which is against the law if the entity is acting like a bank, or like an escrow service, which eBay is doing. Everything must be in writing, and that written document must be made available to anyone who has any financial transactions with ebay. I don't think eBay understands this yet. They better be ready to disclose, disclose, disclose... to the Feds, IRS, to the States, to judges, to regulatory agencies, etc. Is eBay insured by FDIC?
I can pretty much guess that ebay has none of these things, nor are they in the works. Anyone who has control over other people's money, has to be accountable for it. Feds pay ebay a surprise visit to eBay, unannounced (which they can do). They hand you their business card, and ask you for certain files, then more files, then more and more files. They must be given access to ALL files, by law! This is an official audit, and you will be forced to comply. I don't think ebay has made any provisions for audits, compliance with the law, compliance with any regulatory agencies, in case of lawsuits filed by sellers or buyers, etc.
If I ask for a printout showing me where, what, date, price, why... Ebay is supposed to be able to do this, but there is no accounting being done on the money they're holding.
This is **bleep**. It's crazy. If you're into it, stay with it, but keep your eyes open. Personally, it makes no difference to me, what you do is your business. By the same token, you shouldn't jump down the throats of others who have had a different experience with EMP. Instead of being abrasive to the ebayer who is telling about their troubles with EMP, I would be making mental, or written notes to myself, for future use, should you happen to find yourself wondering where your money is, or question where a charge came from, even questioning some random and unfounded claim that ebay screwed something up a year ago, but they have unbeknownst to you, already taken the money out of your account, with no accounting given, just their words "We screwed up", and now we've taken your money. And, that's supposed to be okay?
This is just FYI, and watch your back. If you don't want to, then don't! If you've read something here that strikes a chord, good! Take the information and do what you wish with it. I think there are some who are discussing a class action lawsuit on here, if that's what feels right to you.

Uh, facing no other option than to leave ebay...
That's a pretty strong enticement for most folks. Do as I say, or get out! It's no kind of choice, really, it's more "my way or the highway."
In fact, one might even call it coersion, pressuring people to do something they may not want to do, with the punishment for not doing so, being terminated.

Your words and the graphic make sense and look very pretty!
However, you took no margin for error into consideration. Do you, just like eBay, really believe that this program was going to take off with no hitches? That's a whole lot of optism, not backed by reality. I'm not going to repeat my post (just look up a few posts on this page). Some of us have already been financially damaged by ebay and their new payment system. Not every situation will fit nicely into the pretty diagram, and there are a great many things that have happened to us, already, that are not addressed in writing, nor verbally. They are not addressed at all! Furthermore, if you call Customer Service, and you do actually reach someone, you will be stonewalled. They might act concerned, but what you really get is the runaround. It was a complete waste of my time to call Customer Service.
They got you cornered; it's either do or die!
Lastly, I got sick of waiting for CS, so I did this: I called ebay and asked for what I thought would be the most available department to talk to. I got them on the phone, and then sheepishly said I got the wrong department, and that I was looking for the Managed Payments Department. The guy transferred me right over to them! The guy who picked up in EMP, was not a happy camper. He was **bleep** that someone found a different way to get a hold of EMP Department! That's okay with me, because I was pretty **bleep**, too, after not being able to get a hold of them for five days!
I'm gone. I haven't gotten paid in 2 months, although I've had sales. They removed one of my listings after someone bought it, and screwed up the whole thing. The listing was for an unopened HP toner cartridge, that I just got directly from HP.
I've put up with shenanigans involving ebay, but when eBay starts messing with my money, that's where they cross the line.

Cleviebee,
You are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!! I have sold items this week and am STILL waiting on eBay to release the money into my bank account. Under the old PayPal process, I received the money instantly and transferred it into my account and I had the money the NEXT DAY for no fee. Now eBay is holding my money for days and on one item, the buyer already has the item in their hand and I still do not have my money. This is ridiculous. This is what is going to destroy eBay. In the 2000s, they were the only game in town but now, there are so many ways to buy and sell items.
I also agree that this is becoming almost fraudulent by holding our money this long. Its like they have put it in a short term, high yield account and are making money by holding out money.
The worst part is, eBay is all electronic. You cannot talk to anyone ever and until now, I never needed to.
Very sad. This is the beginning of the end.

I'm another disgruntled eBayer. Managed Payments? I switched to it and now I get to wait 5 days for the money to show up in the bank. What this is going to do is push the small sellers like myself out of eBay. As of next month, somewhere around the 20th, everyone will be switched to this or else what. I still haven't moved my funds from Paypal and the way it looks so far, I might never move them. So it's 1 -2 days for eBay to transfer the sales and 1-5 days for them to show up in the bank. NOT HAPPY.
