An item of mine sold on a Friday night. Buyer paid Saturday night & asked for prompt shipping. eBay says I’ve been paid. Apparently I have to wait until Monday night for my bank to post the payment. So guess what? I’m not shipping the buyer’s purchase until Tuesday morning, when I am sure I got paid & the money is in my bank account. Imagine the same scenario if the Monday is a holiday. That means, for me, I’m not shipping out until Wednesday morning (after the bank posts the payment that Tuesday night). I hope my customers continue to leave me perfect feedback, like I strive for. PayPal always posted payments in a fair & efficient manner. Shame on eBay for not thinking this through.

Just remember to adjust your handling time to match that hold period.

Ebay will not pay you on Monday. They pay for Friday Transactions on Tuesday, and many times they don't credit a sale for the same day it was paid. There is some kind of "cutoff" time apparently. You will not get your money in your account for about 4 days after that. It usually will show "pending" by the next Saturday, and available The Following Monday, for a total of about 8 days after sale for anything that is paid on a Thursday or Friday. I have had it take even longer. When they take a payment from your account, it will be deducted at exactly the speed of light. It was recommended to me that if I do not want to pay for shipping out of pocket, oir ship expensive items out before seeing the funds, that I should adjust my shipping time to a week or 8 days.

My Friday sales are processed and in my bank account by Wednesday morning. EVERY week. I'm sorry yours can take 8 days, but that certainly is not the norm.

Many sellers thought being forced to use paypal was the end of the world.

You are right. It’s Tuesday morning and I just checked. My bank did not post the eBay payment last night. It doesn’t seem right that I’m going to ship today like I promised the buyer, but yet I still haven’t gotten paid....Thank you for the information.

For me it was when they tried to force Billpoint on everyone. It created the Checkout Wars, Billpoint died, eBay purchased PayPal. Did they learn anything from the failure of Billpoint? .... I doubt it.

Well there you go. I am known to be one of the quickest shippers after payment across ebay. If I have to adjust my handling time to a week based on a snails paced payment system I may just go to etsy for a year. Of course it could be the same situation there.
