Major problems with Managed Payments

So, I did the righteous thing and immediately signed up for Managed Payments when I got the email from Ebay.  While I was formerly a powerseller --back when they first coined the term so back when dinosaurs roamed the internet--now I'm just a casual seller mostly selling off to downsize.  So I signed up, gave them my account info (at one point it appeared they were asking for my bank login info (I'm sure I wasn't understanding that properly because who would give them that?) but I went for the manual verification.  They were supposed to put two microdeposits into that account and then I had to verify those microdeposits.

No microdeposits have been deposited and the routing account number they show is correct.   I've tried customer service every day this week and keep getting the message that they have too many people needing help and I should try another time--but when I do that every few hours I get the same message.

Meanwhile I have had three sales which are saying paid ship now, but there is no indication that I will have access to those funds--and if I'll be required to give them the password to my bank account then I'll never have access to those funds because giving out my banking password is literally never going to happen.

Since it's still questionable at this point if I'll ever get paid for these items, I'm not willing to pay out additional funds for shipping unless I have some assurances that I'll be paid.

Re: Major problems with Managed Payments

First, you should be able to pay or shipping out of the money that they are holding. You just need to change the payment method on the label page before you hit Pay.

Second, they say they do not store the bank log in information, so, if you every get that opportunity again, give it to them and then go on your bank's website and change it after you are verified.  Since you bypassed it however, I doubt they'll ask again.

Re: Major problems with Managed Payments

Yeah, it's not offering me any options now except waiting for the microdeposits.  They don't show any of the funds from the (now 5) sales as pending or anything that indicates they are being held for me.  I will never give my bank login info so that's not a possibility even if they back up and reoffer that option.  I went ahead and shipped the items--since I'm in "limbo" there's no way for me to refund the payments and it's not the buyer's fault.

Ironically, after going several weeks without a sale I've suddenly had five sales in just two days.  It makes me wonder if listings by MP sellers somehow get better visibility. It's disappointing to see what ebay has become after the dynamic innovative early days.  Now it seems skewed toward scammers and cheap imported garbage.  I need to figure out how to, at least temporarily, stop my listings as I don't want to lose any more money if I can't get this straightened out.

Re: Major problems with Managed Payments

Does anyone know if there is some way to edit bank information for MP. I set mind yo on January 25th and since then not one payment has reached my bank. Not even "test deposits" I can not see a way to check the routing numbers to make sure they are correct. AND I can not through to CS after 3 days of trying. If there is an error in the numbers I can easily fix that. But again NO Customer Service and so far NO MONEY since I switched.

You can use the Time Away option and hide your listings.

Have a great day.

Re: Major problems with Managed Payments

If you go to the page for your seller account you should see (at least I'm seeing it) a notice with a red exclamation point that says "You need to update your account detail on file..." and a blue link that says Update Account Details  from there go to the "verify bank" page click the link that says "verify bank".   That is the page where you'll confirm the micro deposits but it shows the routing numbers and the last 4 digits of the account number your provided.

Good luck getting someone to call you.  I got a message between 7 and 8 am saying that they already had more callback requests than they would be able to handle  FOR THE ENTIRE DAY and to "try again tomorrow".  I've gotten that same message every single day this week.

Re: Major problems with Managed Payments

Thanks, I was hoping there was a way to just pause the listings rather than delete them.   Honestly if I knew how much of a hassle it was going to be I'd have not opted in and just let my listings run until the last possible date and been done with it.   I feel so sorry for people who are trying to make a living on Ebay these days.  It was so different and so much easier to buy and sell on Ebay in the 90s.  I was running over a hundred auctions a week with a 90% (and sometimes higher) sell through.

Re: Major problems with Managed Payments

I signed up mid December using the manual option…did not get the micro payments/debits either… but January sales processed successfully, it took about 5 days to show pending in my checking account.

So, fingers crossed. 😎

Re: Major problems with Managed Payments

Thank you for your reply. I do not see the notice you mentioned in your post. I think I should at some point if there is an issue with my routing numbers. Its just frustrating to have no answers and no help from EBAY. And so far no money since the change. The old system worked so well for me. Too sad!!

Re: Major problems with Managed Payments

So this morning I got a notice from Ebay that they had processed some of my payments and sent them to my--still unverified-- checking account. I checked the separate account I set up for Ebay and now there are FOUR microdeposits, LOL.  There's only space on the page to enter 2 deposits so I entered combinations of pairs of the four numbers, LOL, but all were rejected.  A few minutes ago I got an email that my account is now "verified" LOL.

Re: Major problems with Managed Payments

The fact that you don't see that page makes me wonder if they don't have any routing number for you?  One of the options I was given was to end that process and start again--but no directions on how to make that happen.  To be forcing this change on long term established sellers at a time when they, by their own admission, don't have sufficient customer service agents to deal with the change shows the lack of insight that eBay is kind of famous for, LOL.

Re: Major problems with Managed Payments

I read your comment and it’s like looking in a mirror. eBay is making me wait for them to verify all my information per federal guidelines then why and how did they do a payout to an account that was wrong the 22nd of this month. That money would have disappeared had I not tried to use it and couldn’t only to find out that they transferred the funds before I had even did any verification of the account the 26th of this month I log in and the bank info I had entered back in may was now incorrect missing the last two numbers ebay “” helps”” me fix it by deleting the bank info with the right information now I’m still waiting for these funds to process the second time based on the bank account has to be verified it’s matches. Never mind that I have did the micro deposits with the right account information. Someone explain this to me where was all this verification **bleep** when you sent it to the wrong account the 22nd of July kinda dropped the ball then and now your holding the **bleep** thing so hard it should be called traveling. I hate ebay more and more each day.
