I am having an issue with Ebay where when I am purchasing shipping labels for items I am selling and I choose to pay for the shipping labels via my PayPal, the payment is sent to my Discover credit card, rather than my Mastercard account, which is my preferred payment method on my PayPal account. I went to Ebay customer support and they told me this issue is with PayPal, so I went to PayPal customer support and they're telling me this is an issue with Ebay, where I have to choose the Mastercard payment selection when at checkout, but there is no option I can find to do this. When I go to purchase a shipping label, the only two options are to have the payment withdrawn from my funds or to use PayPal, but no option to change which credit card PayPal will use to process the transaction. It just automatically does it through my Discover card, rather than my preferred Mastercard account.
Is there a way fix this, because neither Ebay or PayPal's customer support are of any help.

Go to your PayPal Wallet and select the Master Card as your 'Preferred method of payment while shopping online'. 🙌
ETA: Using this method, you don't have to add or delete anything. It'll be your default until you change it.

I mentioned in my original post that my Mastercard is already my preferred payment method. It doesn't work. Ebay still uses my Discover card when purchasing shipping labels.

Your eBay preferred payment method is totally separate from your PayPal wallet. Trust me... go to PayPal and make the change. After all, you ARE shopping online when you purchase shipping labels through eBay.

Maybe I should have clarified; my Mastercard account is my preferred payment method on both Ebay and PayPal. I did exactly what you're recommending several days go on my PayPal account. Ebay still charges my Discover card.

So you're saying that when you open your PayPal wallet and see all of your linked cards/banks to the left, the mint green 'Preferred' tag is showing below your Master Card? Or is the mint green 'Preferred' below your Discover?

i agree with Lamber. this is a paypal issue. you need to check & set your preferred payment method on paypal to the right card, or even remove the discover card from your pp account all together if it continues to happen even after youve manually set your preferred card.
because when you purchase anywhere with your paypal its going to always use your preferred first, and your backup payment method(the only other card on your pp account) second, if the preferred cannot be used due to insufficient funds, or other issues.
as you've stated that Mastercard is your preferred method on pp, but make sure you actually go in & maybe reset the right card as your preferred.
ebay cannot choose between cards that are in paypal, its like expecting any other store to magically know how many cards & what other payment information are in your pp acct. they cant, & only see your paypal email which then charges your preferred manually set payment method, as long as it is valid & usable, & not put on hold or frozen in any way, or again insufficient, in the negative etc.

The mint green 'Preferred' tag is on my Mastercard.

because they're referencing adding your MasterCard directly to your ebay wallet via your account settings, & using that as a valid form of payment separate from PayPal. ebay accepts MasterCard at checkout but you need to add that payment method to your wallet first.

Sorry... I missed this post. If that is what is happening, I'd try to change it and then change it back, before deleting/adding, etc. But if it won't 'stick' for you... I'd reach out to PayPal.
I sometimes opt to pay for labels (albeit rarely) from my PayPal instead of from Payouts. But mine has never 'glitched'. 🤔
By this ^^^, I mean that the method that is marked as 'Preferred' with PayPal has always worked with labels.

I've removed my Discover card from my PayPal account and see if that works for the shipping labels.

Admittedly... when I go to make purchases online elsewhere, I change the 'Preferred' method to the one I'd like to shop with... maybe not the same one I want to only buy labels with. You gotta be a little careful with that, @ba359986.
thats why im confused as to why they cant just add the MasterCard to their ebay wallet. i understand they wish to use pp, but ive done the same thing & its with a paypal debit prepaid mastercard(credit is evil & this is only 4.95 a month WITH a free savings & budget calculator!), & with a sep. joint checking account. its auto switched on me the one time my card was frozen due to "sus activity" it was a safety feature & i never went back and knew to switch it back after the confusion. ALWAYS dbl check that its still set right on both ends as im sure theyve done, desktop is the most accurate way to do this as well. id say remove the discover card from both parties all together, then make sure pp is the preferred wallet payment on ebay again just to be safe & make sure that ebay doesnt have any other forms of payment on there, or just use the MasterCard added directly to the ebay wallet & bypass pp all together. pp is not immune to bugs, & neither is ebay so being more direct with your payment is sometimes necessary.
