I have been selling on Ebay for nearly 25 years and ship many items overseas and some times it take 30 to 60 days and longer if stuck in customs and if Ebay is going to close and item very quickly after the buyer opens a dispute in just 17 days from Germany and you give his money back in only 24 days for an international package than the error is closing the case too early and now I am out the product, the payment and cant even file an insurance claim ( insurance requires 40 days to file) because tracking says it is delivered 4 days after you close and return the buyers money. Ebay says I have to contact buyer to get paid...so much for seller protection! The item was shipped 7-3-23 and buyer opened a case in only 17 days and then you close it 7 days later. There has to be a way to contact the buyer and make him pay for the lot otherwise buyers are going to be filing cases early, have Ebay close it in their favor and then getting their refund and keeping the product and you will have a class action lawsuit on your hands eventually. Please close this loop hole and find a way to contact the buyer and there must be some kind of recourse to this issue. Anyone else experienceing this? If not you will be.....very bad if buyers get wind of this trick!

Are you in the new Ebay International shipping program? If yes, Ebay refunded from their pocket. YOur funds were not touched. If ebay made a mistake, you need to contact them and remind them that "they will take care of the refunds as the EIS program states." Also stop with the class action suit. You agreed to never sue ebay for any reason.

"eBay says I have to contact the seller to get paid."
if eBay told them that then eBay refunded from the seller's pocket.
I think it's automatically set to refund when tracking doesn't show delivered.
I personally feel like 17 days is too optimistic for International shipping. I think when the PO says it's lost is when your time should start to file a not received case.
I'm sorry this happened. Your buyer took advantage with eBay's blessing. They knew darn well it was in transit, that you had done your job and shipped it. eBay should've allowed more time for it to be delivered when tracking showed it was in customs.

Yes but I am trying to figure out if the seller is in the Ebay International Shipping program? Then the refund had to come from ebay. If he is not in the program, then he should get in the program and at least, he won't lose money when items are stuck in customs.
Did you know that sometimes it's not stuck in customs, it's that the crooked buyer is not going to pick up the item because they have to pay taxes? So they open a case, get a refund and with the refunded money, they go and pay for their items. This is true in Argentina and in Mexico. The 2 countries that I first blocked when I started selling here (with 2 other IDS.)
Personally, ebay should never refund a foreign buyer while their item is in customs. This theft probably happens in more countries than the two that I mentioned.

I block Italy and Brazil. I don't block Mexico because I never had a problem there. The first item I sent there was a parking meter lamp to a fellow in Oaxaca and soon afterward I had other bidders from the same city because he bragged he got it on eBay lol and sent them to my listings.
I think they're rude as heck in Australia but so far they're not blocked. On thin ice though. I'm thinking about it.
"Where's my ____? If you don't refund me immediately blah blah blah - omg- the tracking shows attempted to deliver notice left. They need to go get their package and how about checking tracking the next time before you demand a refund and tell me how you're going to tell your friends AND RUIN ME! 2 bad buyers from there. They got their items fine but they were rude and demanding right away.

I sent 5 boxes to Mexico when paypal first became the only option to accept payments. All 5 boxes never arrived and then suddenly " I forgot the procedure to explain to the buyers how to get a refund." Everytime a buyer wrote, I would tell them to wait a little longer. Luckily, none spoke English and did not open a case. Do I feel sorry that I was not truthful. No , I don'. Being truthful and helpful would have cost me a few hundred dollars in refunds . A seller should not be held responsible if a box is stolen or lost or detained in customs. I had to block Mexico and then Argentina, Canada and Brazil. Now I only ship through the EIS program. So far, everything has arrived. One box to Canada did take 5 weeks or so.
I wish that the poster would come back and tell us if he is in the EIS program.
