I received this message in my Ebay messages box on August 19. It was instant, and all funds have been frozen since, though Ebay has taken it's seller fees from any outstanding auctions. It states I need to verify my account. I have zero negative feedback and hundreds of transactions. All funds have been frozen since. It is now September 7. I've called or chatted with Ebay 9 times and have not been updated by Ebay since.
Does anyone have any experience with this--and why it would take an embarassing 3 weeks to do a simple account verification. It feels like the kind of thing Paypal was sued successfully for--floating themselves an interest-free loan on the backs of sellers.

Have you provided the additional information or performed the necessary steps to verify your account, as requested on 08/19/2021?

Yep. Right away.

Same here.

Verifying your account has nothing to do with your feedback or the number of transactions you have had.
You need to verify the information they requested from you in order to open your Managed Payment account. This will help you better understand the process.

When eBay onboarded me a few years ago into Managed Payments it was a pretty poor process. Took a long time to get them to verify account and documents because my bank account is in my business name and my eBay account is in both my personal name and business name. Took about a week to complete. As for your interest question, you should read eBay's carefully worded statement on that topic that details the three specific times that they do not earn interest in buyer's funds.
All I can say is keep uploading the documents that eBay is asking for and eventually it should work out and get verified.
Good Luck and have a nice day 🙂

Why wouldn’t it? They essentially verify it every time there is a transaction. Also, if there was an a actual perceived security problem, why do they collect their fees during the process? Why not tell the seller shat is happening and why and give them a heads up so they don’t lock up sales and inventory for more than 3 weeks without warning. Why pick a process that takes you a month to complete?

By the way, that’s a nothing burger of a link when it comes to my question.

Because the Federal government has specific rules in which MP must follow to verify the identification of every single user. The feds don't care if you have 0 feedback of a million feedback. It just plays no part in the process.
When they collect their fees is really a moot point as it is not the source of your issue. It is just something that bothers you. But they collect their fees up front now. Just like EVERY other site does that has a money processing system, which all the larger sites have had for years.
If the transaction ends up getting cancelled due to security issues, you will get your fees back.
I can't answer why Ebay doesn't give us more information when a problem like this comes up. Likely because that too would be a security issue. But you are right on this point, Ebay does keep too much to themselves sometimes, however that is NOT due to MP, Ebay has ALWAYS been that way.

Not a problem. It does contain information if the process of verifying your identity is the issue and not when it is a Security issue. Which I did explain in that post when I gave you the link.
It is nice to know that you are so appreciative when someone spends their own time to try and help you.
You are welcome.

Hi, have you solved this problem already?

This stinks of Phishing. Time to leave EBay if this is not addressed.

I am having the same issue, they freeze my account to verify. Why didn’t they freeze my account a year and a half ago when I opened my account. PayPal doesn’t even want anything to do with them

This statement regarding PP is completely incorrect. Or do you have a link to an article that will back that up? Are you aware that PP still does business with Ebay?
A year ago they would have likely held your money because you were a brand NEW seller as of August 2020. That is a long standing policy Ebay has had.
If you are currently having a problem with your MP funds being held it is likely the SAME issue as before. The funding policy applies to New Seller and sellers RETURNING to selling after 90+ days away. Which you now qualify for the later.
