It used to be so easy. When you sold something and ebay confirmed the payment was sent, it was right there in your Paypal account! But now with ebay handling the payment, even after they've confirmed that payment was sent, you have to wait for them to put it in your checking account. So instead of mailing the item right out, I have to wait until I actually see the money in my account! So I'm wondering, just how long does it take ebay?
I sold an auction yesterday, and ebay confirmed payment was made. But I still don't see it in my account!

I did not know you could make purchases on eBay with your MP account, though it's a bit less useful but a good thing to know.
I will probably change my payouts to weekly, I just put it on Monthly to maintain a balance since I'm a smaller seller and it just makes sure funds are always available to cover fees and things.
My current store is basically just testing and learning. Do you know if I can convert my personal account to a business one where I remove all my personal information with the new business identifiers? Right now it's linked to my SSN. I'd much rather maintain my current feedback.
Are you talking about your Ebay account or your Bank Account.
I have my Ebay account set up as a Business account. You can change from a personal to a business account in your Site preferences, but you can't change back from a Business to a Personal account without Ebay's assistance.
With my account, I run my business as a Sole Proprietorship. So it has my personal name on the account which matches all my banking information.
DO NOT changes the names on your Ebay account without having the matching info on your banking info, that will cause you a lot of grief and work with Ebay. This info has to match up perfectly.
You do not need a business name to have a business account on Ebay.
A caution, if you want to change to some Business name. Open your bank accounts under that name first and file with your state for a business license BEFORE trying to change your Ebay account. But be advised this is likely to be a headache you simply don't have to do or even need to do.

@kitschy*loot wrote:@tmbz If they hold your money because you haven't sold for a while you will not be getting any money soon. From what I have read from helpful people here holds can last for a while, once they no longer consider you a newer seller then you can get payments on a certain schedule, regardless you don't make the buyer wait. That's not how it works. Buyers can open item not received cases against you and you will basically have to ship or they get refunded at a certain point, and you suffer the consequences on your account.
Careful, this is not completely accurate. And when you are talking about other peoples money, you want to be as accurate as possible, or you could cause them to make harmful decisions.
Ebay has had a rule for many years that pertains to New Seller and sellers that have been away from selling for 90+ days. The following is the policy that outlines why you money is likely on hold.

Thank you,
You are saving me from running into a lot of hurdles, and I swear eBay has the worst notifications to show when someone has replied to you. -.-
But yeah, everything is being filed under the business name, bank account, and everything.
Right now because I've been messing around to learn, I set it up as a sole proprietorship that runs on my social, but I'm going to want to remove my personal info off eBay so it's all Business information.
I have to change it 😞 Because it's a joint partnership with a company that owns multiple brick-and-mortar discount stores.

You fell into the pit that many new members do. Assume that Ebay has done something wrong when in fact it is just you not knowing the options that are available to you.
In the upper right corner of the Community pages you will see your avatar. If you click on your Avatar a menu will show up. Select Set up. Now your next screen will have lots of options for you and several tabs where you can set up your perimeters you want when you are in the Community.
If you want to receive an email every time someone posts to a thread that you are following, that will appear on the first page you open to. Following = either a thread you have posted to or one that you Subscribe to. You Subscribe to a thread without posting to it by clicking on the little arrow on the upper right corner in the OPs [original poster or original post] post, select Subscribe.
Look at all the tabs. You can set things like if you want posts to display in oldest first or oldest last, how many posts to a page and much more.
If you have any questions, you know where to find me.
Just so you know, I personally like getting email notification over using the Bell at the top of the page. It does lead to deleting a lot of emails on active threads, but still I like it much better than the Bell. Others prefer the Bell and that works well for them. So you just need to decide what is best for you. No problem testing the two option out and decide what works best for you.

Once eBay puts you on the "we trust you" list, set your payment schedule for 1 day. As soon as USPS scans your item, eBay begins an ach transfer into your bank account. Depending on your bank, you will have your payment, less eBay fees, available in your account no later than 2 days after scan.

For we (trusted sellers), the $$ transfer to the seller's account is based upon when the buyer payment is done processing and becomes available.
It has nothing to do with USPS, or any other carrier scanning an item.
If a buyer pays today (3rd) I do not have to ship until next Wednesday (10th)
Buyer payment today will generally finish processing tomorrow. (4th)
If set to "daily" payouts, that payout (ACH transfer) would be done on Friday(5th), and may be in my checking that same day, or the following "business day" (8th), long before I am even "required" to ship.

previous statement.....
"...As soon as USPS scans your item, eBay begins an ach transfer into your bank account..."
If this happens it is probably just a coincidence...
I have sold stuff on Friday (after 5 pm EST) which is not shipped out (delivered to the PO or UPS for a scan) until Monday morning. The payout for that order was initiated Sunday Morning prior to even getting to the post office. Was in the bank account Monday a.m. (all before I even dropped it off).
