How do you keep track of your "eBay managed payments" when your using a checking account???

So my problem is that I have always had a checking account linked to PayPal in the past for easy transfer of money and so I could also use my debit card from that checking account to buy supplies at stores etc... . With the checking I still have an actual ledger that I write down into to deduct my funds. Now with this new managed payments I could have 15 or 20 entries a day I would have to physically enter into a ledger. This is a big pain. Also I won't know the exact amount that they deposit into that checking account for each transaction and on which day. I've heard it can be deposited anywhere from 2 to 7 days? This is just nuts. Does anyone else out there have any suggestions to help me figure all this out. It's almost not worth keeping a ledger anymore. Maybe check it once a month and just add in what the bank says is in there. Pretty poor planning on eBay's parts. So much more work for the business owner and way more reports to print out monthly for my taxes at the end of the year. PayPal was so much easier with instant payments. Frustrating!!! Grrrrrrr!!!

ebay doesn't care about sellers.  they only care about money.  managed payments is only a way to hold onto our money longer.  i am sure they are earning interest on it.  seems illegal to me

Change your deposits to weekly. That way you'll get one eBay-related deposit to your checking account a week.  Nice and easy to keep track of.

ebay only deposits money once a day(M-F) or once a week, your pick.  That's the easy part, good luck figuring out yearly taxes, I haven't see anyone on the boards or anyone at ebay they can make sense of it

I agree. It favors the buyer. Sellers can't even leave negative feedback anymore. This is my 19th year on eBay and every year since I started the make it harder and harder. It's wasn't broken 19 years ago. They should have just left everything alone.

This is so frustrating. My first 2 sales yesterday, after being forced into this, now shows that I have a negative amount that I owe eBay for shipping because I paid for shipping before the "processing" was done. eBay says to keep my top rated seller status I have to ship in 1 business day. If the processing takes 2 or more days then how do you pay for shipping right away. Man this ticks me off.

I use the money in my PayPal account balance to pay for shipping right away.  Whether you use MP (eBay) or PayPal to pay for shipping is an option at the bottom of eBay's label printing page.

When my PP balance gets low I can pull money from the checking account that I use for MP payouts into my PP balance.  That checking account is also registered on PP.

That might sound like more work for me, but after years of experience with eBay, PayPal, and my bank, I'd rather keep payment for shipping out of eBay's (MP's) clutches.

you can click on the "payments" tab, and then on the "payout" to get a breakdown of the transactions that were in that "payout".

I did see that option at the bottom of the page to use PayPal but I thought the whole idea of the Managed payments was to "make it easier" for the seller to only use a bank account. It is NOT easier in my opinion. I liked it how it was before and from reading on these forums it sounds like "everyone" liked it how it was before. Does anyone like this now format???

I just started the Managed Payments this week. I was forced to do so. This is my 19th year on eBay. It was fine how it was. I did look at the break down and it shows my 2 sales that I had yesterday as "processing." I paid for shipping through the Managed Payment and now it shows a negative balance that I owe eBay. I thought they were supposed to take all fees, taxes and shipping out of the payment I get and deposit the rest in my checking. PayPal was immediate and I know what money I had to purchase with. Now I don't know as I have to wait for payments to process.

@yard_sale_finds

I haven't been in Managed Payments long on Ebay, but the other site I sell on uses the same program and I've been in it for a few years.

I have my payouts set to weekly, so there's only 4 deposits to enter, in most months.

At the end of the month, check my invoice and register the total fee's.

At the end of the year, I have everything ready for taxes.

Been doing it this way for years and it's worked fine for me.

Have a great day.

That is what they are doing. It goes negative. Once processed to "available" the shipping will be deducted from the amount left after MP fees, and it will be a "payout" on the next "business day".

In my ledger I enter the sold price. The MP fees. My label shipping cost. My cost for shipping supplies.

@yard_sale_finds , @tealt

I opted into MP in August, 2018. I happen to pay for my eBay labels through PayPal, who debits my bank account. Once you have a zero balance, the Preferred method of payment (in PayPal) will be charged... for me, it's my bank account. (It's easier than reloading your PayPal account.) Some use a cash back CC, too.

If you choose to use your Pending payments for labels, shimmy down to the bottom of the label page and change your preference. It will become your new default, but can be changed at any time. Good luck.

Afterthought... I sell so little that keeping up with mine is easy. (Head hung low.)

They just changed it this last week, so it looks bad now, I prefer to get labels thru ebay so I don't have to keep putting money in PP.
