You have to ask the seller to disable automatic payments.

Provide a spare, never-used credit card, one that will fail because it has insufficient balance, a low spending limit, or it is locked, entering that card number directly at the autopay window.

Then when your seller bites @boxesfromtheattic your autopay will fail and you'll have to go through checkout as before to pay with a checking account, Pay-in-4, PayPal Credit, another credit card, etc.
