I have been in Managed payments for 11 months now with 2 accounts. One account has no holds placed against it for any reason for the last 4 months but my other account still gets holds on every remorse return or case or anything really.
Has anyone heard if they are going to address this problem?
I am so sick of the holds on my other account- screwing up my cash flow and knowing that ebay is basically holding my money as an interest free loan for weeks while a return plays out! Then I still have to pay the return out of my available balance when it comes in so I am out 2x the return amount for 4 more days while it slowly processes!
Same account owner for both accounts, 20 year seller/trs/100% feedback on both/ one day shipping/ 300-350 items sold a month........ what more does ebay want from a seller before not treating us like a common criminal by saying that they do not trust us to handle a return?
I fully understand that for a brand new account- precautions need to be taken but come on - this is a ridiculous and anti-seller policy. How do they think any seller here would recommend to someone else to sell on ebay? Word of mouth is the best way to grow for any company- remember those days when we could not stop talking about how great it was to sell here?

MP holds funds to make sure sellers don't clear out their accounts and disappear. Just the way it is. In actuality in the case of a return the money isn't yours anyway.

Funds in my account are always held for remorse returns. And trust me, I sell clothing so I have a fair number of them and am pretty experienced in it.
If you had paypal and 'swept' your money out of your account before that return was processed? They'd be after you for it when that return came due.
ETA: I always kept a couple of hundred in Paypal just to cover. That money isn't mine until the transactions are finished.

All of a sudden I envy you of your 'other' account. I've never even heard of one that hasn't experienced a hold for a return.

How are holds unethical? It's no longer your money. It's as if though the customer has 'returned' the item for a 'refund' immediately; so your books and cashflow will be accurate to the moment. Once the return is received and you process the return, the 'hold' is released for you to refund the customer.
So, there is no problem to be addressed.. except by you because if your business plan requires you to use cash that is no longer yours, you need a new business plan.

I was wondering that myself. Maybe that account hasn't had any returns, though. I find the rate of returns is going up, but again, I sell clothing - my buyers are honest and pretty prompt in their returns but I still have holds until I can refund them. These days I'm such a small seller here that it I do go into the negative from time to time - I used to barely notice when I was full time.

I've always liked Siam's avatar - I look like that cat when I've had too much espresso.

Paypal always held funds when a claim in Ebay or PP and if there was a Chargeback. For a period of time that is just ending PP had a program called Funds Now. That was for an invited group of sellers and one of the benefits from being in this program was that they didn't hold funds when a claim was filed. But they have ended that program.
MP is no different. However I don't like it any better than anyone else, but I understand it and why they do it.
