Help with fees, please?

I have been selling in eBay for just about 4 months now and I recently signed up for the Managed Payments because it seemed like I had to.  Since I did, it seems I am being charged more in fees now than ever and at the same time, I cannot find anywhere that breaks down exactly what I am charged. I thought it was 10% on the item + tax and shipping, but it seems more. Maybe I am wrong which is why I'm asking the community if anyone can explain. I recently sold an item for $600 with free shipping and I was charged $78,86 in fees. I know taxes and shipping wouldn't put the total buyer paid at $788.60, so what gives?  What am I missing here? The stuff I sell is already at a paper thin profit margin and I don't think I can raise my prices anymore and still sell so it may be time to take what I've made and call it quits. This is higher than eBay + PayPal both taking a cut before managed payments.

If you do not have a store your eBay MP "simplified fees" are likely to be 12.35% + $0.30 on the entire amount paid by the buyer.  (The total amount of the sale is the entire amount the buyer pays, including any handling charges, the shipping service the buyer selects, sales tax, and any other applicable fees.)

You can read about fee(and many other things) by using the "help & contact" at the top or bottom of most pages.

enter seller fees in the space, and search for the answer.

When you get to the page scroll down until you see  "final value fees"

You no longer pay the Paypal fees...........once you are in MP they are gone.........but the ebay fvf went up to compensate.........

Oh my!  Thank you so much for your reply!  I had no idea such things. I thought I basically had a store just by selling on eBay. I have now subscribed to the store as just one purchase will cover the subscription fee and I will make much more money now.  I should have done this a long time ago...I suppose I should have read far more in depth than I did initially before starting to sell on eBay.  Thank you again!
