I sold an item totaling 50.94. The eBay fees were 9.21, leaving a net amount due to me of 41.73. However, the managed payout transferred to me was 38.36. Can anyone help me understand the difference between the net amount and the payout?

Are you accounting for eBay collected tax? Possibly you sold your item to someone in NJ?

Does 50.94 include the amount you charged including shipping and tax? Or what was the total including shipping and tax?

In order to determine why your payout was $38.36, we would need to see all the information in your transaction history, not just the three numbers you chose to give us.
My guess is that either (a) the $50.94 includes the sales tax that was remitted back to the state by eBay, or (b) you purchased a shipping label using your available funds prior to the payout.
I suspect that once you have gathered all the information we would need to explain the answer, you will have already figured it out.

50.94 Total Transaction
-9.21 eBay Fees
-3.37 State Tax
---------
38.36 Payout
eBay will also deduct shipping if you use eBay Shipping and change payment to use money from managed payments instead of PayPal.
