Has eBay changed their payment policy?

Has eBay changed their payment policy?

For many years I would get my buyer's payment very quickly(most times even before I had shipped their item).

But, for my last two sales, now there's a hold on payment, until the buyer confirms receiving it.

Is this a global policy, affecting everyone, or just me? And if so, why?

Thanks!

Re: Has eBay changed their payment policy?

In my over 25 years of selling on eBay, they have never held my payouts before
I am not a new member, and I have a recent payout from May 2nd 2024.

More than likely it's a combination of factors. According to the user policy that you agree to when you sell on their platform, eBay can hold payouts for pretty much any reason(s) they want to. Trying to pinpoint the reason(s) is likely a futile exercise.

Thanks everyone for replying.  There's no 'holds' for sales in my other two stores...oh well, I guess I'll just wait until they pay out.

Re: Has eBay changed their payment policy?

Even though you do have a significant history as a seller on eBay, if there's been a significant gap in your selling history, even as little as 90 days, eBay will treat you as a new seller, which means you will be subject to a hold of your funds.  Don't know if there is a place where eBay tells you about that.

Also, if you've always sold low dollar items, like sewing patterns or cheap jewelry and are now suddenly selling some expensive item, it's my understanding that eBay will hold your funds then also.
