Funds on hold

Started ebay in late 90's and left when paypal-ebay split. Came back and had trouble getting paid for items that I have sold. 100% feedback all the way back to the late 90's and I finally sold an item of which the funds were released immediately. Now, I sold two more items and the buyer and myself all have 100% good feedback. I called CS and got three different answers from three different people and finally got a supervisor and he looked amy account and said he did not see a reason for the holds. One of the orginal CS called me a "casual seller" to which I take offence. I was here when most of you were not even heard of. It's old to hear your CS agents say it's the computer that's doing it. No, it's not, it's ebay management and I think you are trying to turn Ebay into another Amazon. It will not happen as people are getting weary of that forum of junk products and sorry service.

I remember yesterday's thread. FWIW, I'd not want to be a new or returning seller here for anything anymore. But good luck.

Well, there are a few things you should be aware of, if you aren't already:

Came back and had trouble getting paid for items that I have sold.

That would be 100% correct.  Any seller (ANY) that sells inconsistency, will be subject to holds if they only sell occasionally with long stretches of no listings or sales.  And this can be harsher or longer depending on the value or risk level of the item(s) sold.

and I finally sold an item of which the funds were released immediately. Now, I sold two more items and the buyer and myself all have 100% good feedback.

How long between those two events?  Were any of the items expensive?

One of the orginal CS called me a "casual seller" to which I take offence.

No reason to.  If you are not selling items on here constantly or in large volumes, you ARE a casual seller.  Hell I'm a casual seller, and I sell items almost every week for the past 2+ years, and have been on the platform for over 2 decades.  But I'm not subjected to more than 24 hour holds, as I'm also consistent and established as a dependable seller. But due to my small volume, I'm still a casual seller.  Its not my main source of income.

It's old to hear your CS agents say it's the computer that's doing it.

The really bad part, and I HATE having to tell people this as a Mentor, but the phone reps that they have available never seem to be able to impart the correct wisdom or answers.  They are far more likely to say whatever will get you off the phone.  You can take 3 people with the exact same question, call eBay and get 3 different answers and often they even conflict with each other.   No, this isn't a good look.

This is one of the reasons we often have to direct people to reach out to the eBay staff via their social media contacts as often they have better answers and give better results.

You've been a member since 2022 and sold 25 items.

You've sold 8 items in the last 90 days.

You are a casual seller.

Have a great day.

Nobody here is special and that includes me. New and infrequent sellers are subject to Payment Holds.  Here is the quick read, easy peasy:

And nobody's money should be held on somebody's whim while they use your funds. Just another corporate scam like you tried on yur customers and got caught in the Northeast. Going to send some of your security to my home like you did then? I doubt it.

So lakeof 94 posted a link to article about holds and that is the reply you come up with! LOL My guess is you didn't come here for help.

With very few exceptions unless one is tagged for a question, the people here are not eBay employees, so no one here is going to send anyone to your house.

You got something right, no one would waste time on you aside from some of us here on the forum.

There are folks that have issues with policies and processes. You appear to be one of them.

When you cannot get straight answers from the Ebay swaet shops, what else? Every time you call them (if you can hear them over the childrens screams, the dogs barking, or the other's talking loud) you get a different answer and no help at all. And don't dare ask for a supervisor because they will put you on hold and finally disconect in about 20 minutes. Pitiful from what Ebay was years ago.

Started with Ebay back in the ninties and left when the paypal split. Came back a few years later until Covid. Got over that and this is what I get. Bought and sold for 20 years and 100% feedback. I hope ebay remembers Westinghouse, GE, and many others that forget their beginnings and their customers. They are no more.

Not after Ebay was sued by the federal and state governments. Nope.

eBay policy at one time was very wordy and detailed, explaining payments could be held until you had 25 feedbacks for selling, over $250 in sales and was selling for 90 dsys. Then they simplified and shortened the policy but those terms still applied, and more added like a hold on expensive itens or a change in listing habits. If you don't have a sale for several months then they can hold the payment.

I think part of that has to do with dormant accounts suddenly starting to sell again.  Hijackers look for  dormant accounts to list on so eBay is going to hold funds on casual sellers.  It doesn't matter if you have been on eBay a long time or not. If you take a break from selling then your funds could be held.
