I've had the same ebay account for close to 20 years with a stellar track record. Over the last couple years, ebay has forced changes on me based on their pay-in / pay-out structure. Fine, I've gone along with it.
Now they are asking for photo ID and a bank statement or they won't allow pay-outs on my account.
I don't know about you all, but I'm not trusting this large an organization (a breach risk) with my private information when it's completely unnecessary. I'm not taking out a business loan here or refinancing my house. There is no need for ebay to have this information.
I'm not sending any of this. I'll just do what I need to do elsewhere. I can do most of this on Amazon anyway.
Ridiculous.

It doesn't matter unless Craig's list actually does the money processing, which they don't as far as I know.

I agreed with the person I was replied too, and was just making a comment that there are a lot of retail sales on Craig's list, and without saying it, might only be a matter of time before the IRS finds a way to get their fingers in that too.

Not likely to happen on such sites as they can't prove a transaction took place or that money exchanged hands, not to mention how much money if any.

Dear Friend ,
Most of members had been asked for these information. I also asked but not from Ebay from payoneer in order to confirm or recheck your details.
If you are no in a position to share those information , it is better to have a chat with Ebay.
Do not let your business fall down. Every one can start a business but few can continue the same in a successful manner.
Thanks

So you think retailers are doing “under the table” transactions on CL and not reporting the income?

Sorry, yes they do.

eBay already has too much of our personal information. I'm not giving them any more. I'm switching over to ebid.com. Check it out.

Maybe they should consider going back to letting PayPal manage the financial part of the transaction. PayPal has never required a Photo ID from me!

My thoughts exactly!

Has anyone been asked by PayPal to provide this information yet???

Not really important, Paypal is no longer the processor for sellers, so why would they ?
Managed payments are here now and never going away, so I would simply supply what they require if you want to be paid for your sales

They may now, IDK. I have not had a need to set up a new account with them. Besides, Ebay does NOT require a photo ID from everyone. They only ask for that if they are seeing some problem they are trying to work out. I know lots of sellers that have never had to send theirs in.

Why wait for someone else to do it. Take it on yourself and then let us know.

I have, yes. When I transferred an unusually large amount of money (loaning it to a friend for an emergency car repair), they wanted to see photos of my driver's license and would not unfreeze my account until I provided them.

eBay insists no one is being singled out with this request. They say it has to do with their breaking away from PayPal. If they want to force the photo ID in order to sell on their web site, that is their right. But I should have the right to close my account with them and they're not allowing me to do that.
