Ebay zip code scam

On August 17th I purchased a television by an eBay seller who had zero selling history but 100% positive as a buyer the television never arrived the seller never sent it FedEx as a listing stated I saw on my purchase history that eBay stated delivery with a UPS tracking number that was not to me or my house but was to my ZIP code and city this information was provided to my credit card company as proof of delivery by eBay 10 days after I notify them and flagged the seller as fraudulent eBay provided that tracking information as proof of delivery and went further than the merchant did in trying to defraud me by stating it was to my name and my address I am now out $657.20. I am looking for other scammed buyers who've been hurt like this for a potential class action lawsuit against eBay because eBay is aiding and enabling and because eBay is sending erroneous tracking numbers as proof of delivery to credit card companies

Re: Ebay zip code scam

It's become a very common scam. Get a letter from the shipper, an email will do saying it was not sent to your address. Then contact your card company and file a case with them.  They will give you a fax number to send that letter to.  It can be hard to get such a letter. Keep calling the shipper until you do as each call gets you a different rep.

The first go around the charge might come back on your card and you will have to call the card company again.   Then it will go to an investagitor and be handled.  It can take four months. Don't give up.

Re: Ebay zip code scam

This is not just a scam that happens on Ebay.  It happens all over the internet on all kinds of sites.

What your first step needs to be is to contact the carrier, give them the tracking number.  Explain your issue calmly and factually.  Ask them for more detailed info on the shipment.  And get them to email the information to you.  Watch the details right on down to the weight.  It was the weight on one that told me that this was a scam.  The shipment was for a 3lb item, what I ordered was actually 40-50 lbs.

Yep I'm been caught by this too on Ebay and my husband got caught up in one on another website that wasn't anything like Ebay, it was a single company website.

Now once you have all the documentation and if it proves what you are saying, the CALL Ebay and appeal the INR you originally filed.  Don't file the appeal online, CALL Ebay and give them ALL the information.

When I filed my INR on Ebay I already had all my information and I submitted that to Ebay inside my claim.  I won my INR so I did not have to appeal it.

Good Luck.
