Ebay payment status not updating on my purchase

I purchased an item here on Ebay and paid via credit card with PayPal, a week ago.  Paypal shows the transaction is Completed, but Ebay system shows status is still pending and unpaid.  My credit card was charged and posted on my statement.  How can I get Ebay to update the payment status?  They refuse to assist and direct me to paypal, but paypal is non-responsive and ticket opened has an estimated resolution date of 6 weeks from now.   I need to initiate a return; I have already communicated with seller and reached an agreement.  But Ebay system will not allow a return to even be started due to this incorrect pending payment status.

It is a glitch in eBay's payment system. I have seen the same thing 3-4 times in the past week. I tried contacting eBay but can't reach any customer service agent who has actually bought or sold anything on eBay so they don't undersand the question.

 

The human chatbots will just say "the payment shows up as unclaimed" even though the seller will see the payment as completed in their paypal account.

 

Try asking the seller to print the label through Paypal multiorder shipping. 

 

Until the glitch goes away, unfortunately it is impossible to reach someone at ebay who actually knows how to use eBay so there is nothing you can do.

eBay customer support is only useful for "I forgot my password", "how do I upload photos" and things like that. Anyone who has bought or sold more than 5 things on eBay is qualified to be an eBay customer support supervisor.

How can you return something if you have not received it, and therefore you have nothing to return?

 

What type of agreement did you reach with the seller?

I did receive the item.  Basically, what I ordered has an upgraded pro version and a basic version.  I mistakenly ordered the basic version and did not notice until I received it.  Messaged with seller offering to pay return shipping (item is unopened) and swap it out and pay the difference, but seller replied indicating they would prefer I order the upgraded model separately and return this one through Ebay.  But this stupid Ebay system is stuck and not updating the payment status so I cannot start a return.

 

UPDATE: working with PayPal on the resolution center, the idiots did not read my ticket and instead reclassified it to "missing a refund."  They are giving me three days to upload return shipping tracking info.  I try to update it with notes clarifying what I want, and I am met with "Oops, we have a problem on our end.  Try again later." when attempting to post.  All I can say is that if I cannot get this resolved in three more days, complaints will be made to the California DOJ, Consumer Protection Bureau, and my local district attorney for fraud.  My mind is blown at the raging incompetence and inability to fix such a simple error.
