Ebay charging for incorrect fees

The charge for "international fee" has nothing to do with were you are or are shipping the item.

The "international fee" is for not using a US bank or CC.  For you I am assuming it would be a UK based.

If you're shipping to a UK address there shouldn't be a fee if the buyer is registered in the UK and has a UK checking account or payment source. Check their feedback profile to see what country they're registered in. If they're in the UK then they paid with a foreign payment.

Ebay charging for incorrect fees

eBay "are" not ripping people off.   eBay is charging fees that, by their definitions, are owed.

For my own edification -- I went to the eBay.uk website -- and then I found the words "User Agreement" at the bottom of the page, in the same place as Canadian and US/American eBay users can find the User Agreement for their countries.  Sure enough, the eBay UK User Agreement has a section entitled "Fees."

Long story short -- here's a copy-and-paste of the International Fees that are charged to eBay UK-based sellers:

(start quote)

International fee

If your registered address is in the UK, we charge an international fee when the delivery address for the item (entered by the buyer during checkout) is outside the UK, as shown in the table below.

This fee is calculated on the total amount of the sale and is automatically deducted from your sales proceeds. The total amount of the sale includes the item price, any handling charges, postage, taxes, and any other applicable fees.

Eurozone & Northern Europe*

US & Canada

All other countries

1.26%

2.16%

2.4%

*Northern Europe: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden.

(end quote)

Exactly like the International Fees that can be charged to eBay's Canadian and US/American sellers, the determining factor of when this fee is charged is the nation of the shipping address.

One detail you omitted from your original post was where you sent the Thing that your buyer purchased.   The obvious explanation for eBay charging you the international fee is that your buyer wanted the Thing sent to an address outside the United Kingdom.

Incorrect.  Both statements are incorrect.
What do they say happens when you "assume" ??
