Ebay Gift Card Useless wiped before I could scratch the code off.

The moment I purchased this eBay gift card as a birthday present it became useless. I may as well have just taken 200$ dollars and thrown it into the garbage can for someone else to find. Bought the card realizing it was the wrong one and was supposed to buy Amazon, I tried returning it the following day. Receipt in hand with the card still in the box they declined it due to policy. I called eBay several times trying to get it resolved and had no way to use the card except on eBay. Okay fine, let's look on eBay, found something I liked scratched the code entered the number and what do you know, not enough money on the card to purchase. Hmm Checked the balance and again not a surprise the card was wiped from 200.00 to 0.00 how does this happen when I literally just scratched the code and entered it in within seconds? I will never buy a gift card again from eBay with this kind of headache and loss of money.

I don't know when you bough it but it sure sounds like it's "not as described" if there's no money on it. Personally I'd never buy a gift card on Ebay, or silver/gold coins, collectibles, etc, you are always taking a risk.

Have you contacted the seller??

One way is a thief scratched off and wrote down the number. You can buy replacement strips to put back on. The thief then keeps checking until someone buys the card and it goes active. Then they spend the money.  Never buy gift cards.  Why transfer control of your money to a third party and risk not getting it back.

Stores won't take them back as they know all too well they are often worthless by then.

I dunno either. I literally bought the card from Walgreens in Palmetto the traveled 1 hour to my local store to find out they wouldn't accept the return. I went to my bank to find out if they would let me cash it, and they said no.

I went home scratched the code then linked it to my digital wallet using google pay. Everything synched together as expected and showed the correct amount.

Google pay was the only card number entry used therefore, must be the one responsible. There is too, much virtual money floating around in my opinion, and easier to lose this way without being able to track it.

You should've read eBay gift card terms and FAQS. It says there are no refunds! You should've read about redeeming the card.

You can only redeem the card on eBay. GOOGLE PAY is not eBay. eBay says do not give the redemption code to anyone.  You gave the code to someone other than eBay. When you pay on eBay you enter the redemption code in the discounts/ coupons area.

If you wanted your money back for the card you should've sold it to a company that buys gift cards like Gift Card Granny.

If he "tried returning it the following day", it sounds like he purchased it at a business and did contact the seller.
