I have been an eBay seller for many years. I will not succumb to this ridiculous new mandate to sell on eBay. There are many other platforms where PayPal is recognized. I don’t want my privacy violated. Shame on them for doing this to so many businesses. Maybe if enough people stop using eBay they will realize they made a terrible mistake.

Dont worry most of ebay buyers are moving already.

PayPal already had the sensitive info that eBay requested. I opted in over a year ago and I'm not in fear. Good luck.

Since Pay Pal didn't want to renew a contract with Ebay, they had to find a way for their sellers to be paid.

"Since Pay Pal didn't want to renew a contract with Ebay, "
I didn't/don't blame them; truth be told, you wouldn't have either, oh wait, maybe you would have. But not me, and most likely no other smart business minded entities.
Let the facts tell truth to power, eBay didn't want to relinquish that control over PP.

PayPal has my SS# but they've NEVER had my checking account information.

Pretty sure they do since you can transfer directly from Paypal to your checking account.

You made a good point and the phrase "business minded entities" is key. Let's take out the 'minded' for a moment and you really made the statement. Because many if not most of the sellers feeling pressured to give the sensitive information aka ss# are not businesses at all but perhaps casual sellers. Where a business has a tin # to protect its owner's personal information, we casual, part time "hobby" sellers are left out in the open so to speak with our ss# flapping in the breeze with our bank account #'s linked to them for the next (and you know its just a matter of time) information breach!!
Not gonna' do it. Too much personal information out there already, don't need to give that kind of information to a WORLD WIDE ENTITY THAT HAS OUR PAYMENTS PROCESSED BY AN OUT OF COUNTRY COMPANY!!
Good Luck to all and please be safe and try to remember what this season is REALLY all about.

Nope. PayPal has never had my checking account. I use a savings account with PayPal and always have since I signed up years and years ago. Unfortunately we cannot use a savings account with Managed Payments.

OUCH, you got me on a technicality. So they have your savings account number. And the difference is?

The difference is that my Credit Union only allows a small number of transactions per month and does not allow anyone but me to move money out of the savings account so no withdrawals can be made by anyone else. That is probably why Managed Payments will not allow us to use a Savings Account as it has too many restrictions on them.
