Sorry for your situation.  You need to do what the bank told you to do and shut that card down.  As soon as you can.

Here's a link to give you an idea who that charge went to:

Are you sure the email came from your bank?
My bank actually called me the two times they thought my buying patterns were off.  Email is not how to communicate in these situations.

Is there not a number on the back of the card to call in an emergency such as lost card or suspicious activity?

Banks usually don't email you for such. Would not do any calling from that email. I usually check my balance online and find most of those emails are not from a bank. I would delete that email immediately. You can always visit your bank or call the number to your bank directly.

By the way, banks do not do business such as sending emails out on a Saturday or Sunday or before Monday at 9AM.

My bank would not email me. Scammers can send you fake emails that appear to be from the bank. They're trying to get you to confirm your card so they can steal your card. Don't  ever click on a link or call a number in that email.  Look in your account activity and you call your bank directly in case this is a phishing expedition.

Hi @kiaske_0

There’s two things that seem odd about that message if it’s coming from a scammer:

#1.  The amount of the alleged purchase is low.  My scam emails claim purchases in the hundreds of dollars … presumably to ensure I contact them.

#2.  My scam emails provide either a link to click OR a phone number to call … and tell me to do it immediately.

I agree, however, that banks usually PHONE about suspected fraudulent transactions.  I would contact your bank at a phone number you know is theirs … and inquire about the details in the email.

Please post back about what you find out.  It would be helpful to know in terms of helping others with this problem.

Go online and view your statement. Is there a charge there that you did not make? If yes, immediately cancel the card. If it's a debit card, call the number on the back so that they can put a stop on further purchases and get you a new card. Do NOT respond to the email.  Hopefully, you did not give them important information.
