Charged extra for purchase

I've just made a purchase of, what I was told on eBay was £395.91 (560 USD, since the item listing was in United States currency), but when I opened my online banking app, my transaction was shown as "PAYPAL *[seller name] EBAY" (even though I didn't pay with PayPal but with my debit card instead) with a charge of £415.22.

I don't understand why I was charged extra?

Thanks in advance.

What is the exchange rate?
It may be currency conversion.

Re: Charged extra for purchase

Exchange rate is £1 = $1.41 USD.

The final price I paid is listed on eBay as £395.91/$560 (USD), but for some reason, my online bank transaction shows it as $415.  I'm so confused.

Could you show us the picture of that transaction? Maybe we can find out something.

Exchange rate.

I believe it tells you on PayPal it is based on current exchange rate with payment posts.

Re: Charged extra for purchase

So if I'm understanding correctly, I'm charged an additional fee for converting currencies on top of the original price that I paid for the item itself?

Re: Charged extra for purchase

Paypal charges extra for  converting currencies, a percentence on the total amount.
