I sold an item and shipping costs were not included; only Local Pickup and buyer is out of state. How can i add shipping cost after buyer has paid?

If you send them a PayPal money request they could pay it that way but then you would be avoiding eBay fees. To avoid that cancel the transaction, add the shipping cost to the listing and relist it. Then he can rebuy it.

does cancelling a transaction credit the seller for the fee load on the FVF and the payment fees?

cancel with "problem with buyer address" and yes it will.... all but the 30 cent process fee.

A better question might be why you would want to, as you would be taking responsibility for the shipping, as well as paying for its return if Something Bad happens.
Tell the buyer to arrange the shipping himself, and that you will be happy to hand over the item(s) to whoever arrives to make the pickup. Tell them you would prefer that the pickup person pays you in cash (though eBay does require you to offer a means of electronic payment as well).

This is a major issue with the very bad return system. There are really no allowance for a Seller to do what is normal business, like sending a invoice after the sale for anything. People here have sad, sure no problem cancel the sale, which cost Sellers money, relist the item including shipping, which cost more money or send the person a PayPal invoice , which cost money and is a eBay policy issue, selling outside of eBay and just flat not telling the truth by stating the Buyer address is bad in order to cancel the sale. All of these are timewasting and money wasting issues. All eBay has to do is allow us to send an invoice to a Buyer just like we could we PayPal. No reason why they can't do that. Do you think Amazon tell their Buyers, excuse me I have to cancel your sale and redo the listing and have you repurchase in order to charge you shipping. Yes this is another way eBay is improving the Buyer experience. What a cluster.

this actually is a good suggestion. The sale was for LOCAL PICK UP ONLY.
The buyer obviously knew that when they placed the winning bid.
You could box it up, and give the buyer the dimensions and weight of the box and have them send you a prepaid shipping label for you to slap on the box and hand it to the shipping company that they want to use.

Never mind. I missed that buyer had paid.

A. Use PayPal to send them an invoice for shipping.
B. Send the buyer the shipping info and have them email you a label from the carrier of their choice.
C. Relist, Add Shipping, Lose $.30 & Hope It Sells
Here's the upside to this process:
Solution A
1. No Value Fees paid on shipping.
2. No Sales Tax Paid on Shipping
3. No Value Fees paid on Shipping Sales Tax
Solution B
1. No Value Fees paid on shipping.
2. No Sales Tax Paid on Shipping
3. No Value Fees paid on Shipping Sales Tax
4. Buyer in complete control of the process.
5. Seller just ensures item gets entered in the shipping system. CYA with receipt!
SolutionC
1. There is no upside, you lose a sale & $.30!

Agree, I've spent 40 mins trying to figure out how to add shipping because it's coming up no freight cost, when I had it in there to begin with. After the buyer purchased the item, he couldn't pay because it did not generate a shipping cost, just says, no freight listed. ?

You probably ought to start your own thread about this issue. Original message was from 07/28/21. Hopefully, that OP resolved his problem by this time.

PS: Don't see any items in your recently sold things that would not be able to be shipped and that does not have a shipping cost in the listing.
Was this sale in another ID?
